The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance of our Pit Team through consistent hauling of blasted stone. The candidate will also assist in Pit Development and Plant and Site Maintenance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Adhere to a world class safety culture and exemplify strong workplace organization skills.
Perform thorough pre shift and post shift examinations of mobile equipment, identifying the condition of safety equipment and controls, engine and gear boxes, hoses, hydraulics, tires, etc.
Inspect working areas in the pit and stripping areas, identifying highwall hazards, road and berm hazards, slope stability, and any other hazards.
Report any failure or damage to equipment and all workplace hazards to the Supervisors to ensure corrective action.
Safely and efficiently operate Haul Trucks (CAT 773D) to haul blasted stone from the Pit Loader and Muck Pile to the Primary Crusher
Communicate with the Primary Crusher Operator and Pit Loader to ensure consistent load, haul, and dump cycles.
Assist in Pit Development and Maintenance projects, such as runoff control and water mitigation, road maintenance, ramp development, and pit floor maintenance.
Learn other equipment such as dozers, excavators, skid steers, and other support equipment.
Assist in Stripping activities, including hauling overburden, topsoil, and plant waste to the fill pile and waste areas.
Perform any other tasks when necessary, such as equipment and plant maintenance, cleaning and organization projects, and travel to other sites when requested.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in heavy equipment is a plus.
3-5 years' experience in heavy equipment operation.
Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with equipment operators and other team members.
Physical stamina and the ability to perform responsibilities.
