Job Responsibilities
Pennoni is currently seeking a Staff Roadway Engineer to assist on multi-discipline designs for public infrastructure and private site development projects. This position may also require supervision of support staff and in all aspects of projects, including conceptual/planning, preliminary design, detailed design, construction documentation, permitting documents and engineering reports. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Prepare roadway design plans for NCDOT projects
Review local municipal and NCDOT roadway design standards
Familiarity with general utility design along primary and secondary roadways
Reviewing and understanding transportation design plans for roadway improvements
Attend and conduct meetings with client and other design team members
Perform design quantity take-offs, and develop opinions of construction cost
Prepare encroachment agreements
Present technical information to demonstrate compliance with client requirements and/or regulatory requirements
Complete tasks and assignments as directed by other Project Managers within the timeframes and budgetary constraints of the project
Serve as a mentor for less experienced staff
Required Attributes:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or similar
FE / EIT Certification
4+ years of professional experience working in roadway design
Proficient in MS Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, and Word), PDF editing (Bluebeam, Adobe, etc.), and MicroStation
Preferred Attributes:
Professional Engineer (PE) Certification in North Carolina
Strong organization and communication skills
Be able to work independently as well as in a team
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision
Desire and ability to manage and lead less experienced staff
