  • This position is On-Site based in Lenexa, Kansas Site.

  • Domestic travel expectation of 10%.


How will you make an impact?



The Specialist III, Practical Process Improvement (PPI) is responsible for training and coaching others to solve problems, with advanced problem-solving techniques. This position will lead the resolution of complex problems that will impact Revenue, EBITA, Right-First-Time (RFT), On-Time-Delivery (OTD) and Organizational Health. This position will role model the continuous improvement behaviors and company values to influence people managers to embrace PPI and support the cultural transformation.



What will you do?



Identify, quantify and drive the most impactful financial opportunities for improvement


Coach and train employees in the PPI 8-step process to develop and implement solutions


Coach and mentor People Managers in the PPI Business system to deliver results using continuous improvement methodologies.


  • Conducts Gemba Walks to identify process improvement opportunities.

  • Lead and facilitate Kaizens and Projects.

  • Coach the teams in Daily Tiered Management.

  • Train associates in PPI tools and concepts.

Manage the PPI Project Funnel, Performance and Sustainability of the PPI Business System.


Create project charters with the right problem, define metrics to measure success, and develop systems to sustain the improvements.


Provide ongoing Lean support to multiple teams.


Support the Site in the implementation of best practices.


Drive the annual operational excellence roadmap to improve the site performance.



Education



Bachelor's degree is required in any of the following fields; engineering, science, operations or business



Preferred Qualifications



Advanced degree or certification such as PMP, Lean Six Sigma certifications.



Experience



3 years of experience in a Continuous Improvement role or equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.


Extensive experience and a 'hands-on' track record of implementing successful TPS-based business systems including elements such as:


Lean Leadership (Daily Management, Leader Standard Work, and Gemba Walks)


Strategy Deployment and Value-stream mapping


Kaizen events on standard work, cell design, process and product 3P, Value-Analysis/Value Engineering, error-proofing, material flow, Heijunka, and Kanban.


Expertise in problem-solving utilizing a formal program/process.


Demonstrated experience as a continuous improvement practitioner, from charter creation to sustainment of results.


Proven track record for developing, training, and coaching teams.


Self-directed leader with a proven ability to manage/influence across and up into the organization without direct reporting responsibility.


Previous experience in a supervisory role preferred.


CDMO and Commercial Manufacturing experience preferred.


Medical device experience preferred.


Experience in Operational Excellence / Continuous Improvement preferred.

Passion for driving improvement and leading change.


Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with and positively influence leadership and all levels of the organization


Able to drive strategic thinking and continuous improvement in both non-operational and operational areas, including connecting the cross-functional resources to remove waste along the extended value streams.


Proficient computer skills with a desired knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Smartsheet and Visio.


Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Fluency in English.
