SUMMARY


The Extrusion Engineer shall utilize engineering principles, processes, and methods to produce products that meet our customer's requirements in a cost-effective manner. This position will resolve technical problems specifically related to thermoplastic extrusion in support of both manufacturing and new product development. Additionally, the Extrusion Engineer will develop, implement, maintain, and improve processes that are capable and in control with the application of statistical tools.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


* Support thermoplastic extrusion process to meet on time delivery and quality standards.
* Perform required calculations and selection of tooling (tips, dies, screws, etc.) for specific applications.
* Create, modify, and maintain thermoplastic extrusion manufacturing procedures and setup sheets.
* Troubleshoot extrusion process issues.
* Provide training on thermoplastic processes/procedures/equipment to manufacturing personnel.
* Develop, improve, and maintain preventative maintenance requirements for thermoplastic extrusion equipment.
* Collect and analyze data to reduce process/product variation.
* Evaluate new raw materials, additives, colorants, etc. for extruded cable jackets.
* Recommend purchase of new and/or specialized equipment in support of continuous process improvements and new product development.
* Support Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) for thermoplastic extrusion processes.
* Support corrective action implementation for customer returns.
* Direct Engineering Technicians for successful completion of assigned projects.
* Obey safety rules and promote plant safety initiatives.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis


* B.S. in Engineering preferred.
* Minimum 5 years of engineering experience with wire and cable extrusion required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT


Carlisle Interconnect Technologies is a clean facility, housing different machinery, equipment, processes, and chemicals which produce potential hazards in the work environment such as: ergonomic, chemical, machine point of operation, and powered industrial vehicle traffic. These hazards are controlled through means of engineering controls, such as machine guarding, and administrative controls, such as safety policies and programs. In certain areas of the facility, employees are required to wear Personal Protective equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, and hand protection.


PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS


* ASTM F-2412-2005, ANSI Z41-1999, or ANSI Z41-1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas
* Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses in specific areas
* Hearing protection, in specific locations
* Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas
