Description:



  • Evaluates and assists physicians in the care of patients with cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis. Work includes seeing patients for urgent clinic visits and conducting diagnostic work up of patients when appropriate.

  • Works in collaboration with physicians to assess physical needs of the patient and implement a plan of care of assigned patient to be co‐managed.

  • Develops and maintains own practice and provides follow up care of existing patients.

  • Develops written care plans for CF and non‐CF patients.

  • Evaluates, interprets and records results of tests (laboratory, microbiology, radiology, pulmonary function) and reports results to physicians.

  • Responds to phone calls from patients, pharmacies, and pharmacy benefits managers to facilitate prior authorizations for medications to meet patient's needs.

  •  Communicates examination results to patients by telephone and/or in writing.

  • Coordinates and supervises the overall patient flow to ensure a smooth patient turnover.

  • Provides patient education.

  • Attends the annual North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference (NACFC).

  • Assists in developing education materials for patients.

  • Manages patient care activities in the absence of the primary physician.

  • Develops and participates in research coordination.

  • Communicates effectively with other members of the CF care team.

  • Attends the CF team meetings every two weeks.

  • Submits timely and complete billing.

  • Provides diagnosis and treatment plans for payers, if requested.

  • Works under direction of Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program Director.

  • Will see pulmonary clinic patients both the hospital and outpatient settings.

  • Assist in transition from ED and/or hospital to the outpatient setting.

  • Will do preoperative pulmonary assessments.

  • Able to gather and interpret data for the diagnosis and management of pulmonary conditions‐with a focus on cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, and interstitial lung diseases.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Able to work independently with physician and administrative input, as necessary.




Qualifications:


Current Louisiana License as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner


Master's degree, Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; or higher degree with concentration in speciality.


American Heart Association/Basic Life Support-HCP and ACLS licenses.


Three (3) years of clinical experience in the outpatient setting preferred
