The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for an open (practice track) faculty position in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences for a position in Diagnostic Imaging.





Position Overview


The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine announces an outstanding opportunity for two practice track faculty positions in diagnostic imaging. The person(s) will join an energetic, internationally recognized, diagnostic imaging program comprised of 5 faculty radiologists, 9 residents, and 14 technologists/technicians/veterinary assistants. Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree. Specialty board certification (ACVR or ECVDI) is preferred, and board-eligible candidates will also be considered.



The final candidate will be offered an extremely competitive package that is commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. In addition, the final candidate will have the potential to negotiate a work schedule that meets their personal and professional needs including a reduced hours or days schedule and the opportunity to participate in external consultation activities.


The diagnostic imaging service is located within the comprehensive Veterinary Medical Center and referral center that includes state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, wireless DR systems; 3 ultrasound units; a 128 slice, multidetector CT (used for both large and small animals); a nuclear medicine suite; a 3T MRI with a full suite of imaging applications (neurologic, orthopedic, cardiac, vascular) for both large and small animals; and a linear accelerator with MLC and onboard imaging. Plans are in place to acquire a PET/CT for small animal patients and standing PET and CT for equine patients.



Practice track candidates will be assigned up to 90% time in clinics, including clinical teaching of students and advanced training of interns and residents. Teaching responsibilities will include clinical teaching of diagnostic imaging to professional students, interns, residents, and graduate students. A brand new clinical and professional skills teaching laboratory opened in 2018, built for preclinical teaching of veterinary students. Participation in continuing education events and outreach activities for the public and private practitioners is available.



Although not required of the practice track position, faculty members are encouraged to develop collaborative endeavors with clinicians and scientists within the College and across the university. Excellent collaborative opportunities are available in the Departments of Veterinary Biosciences and Veterinary Preventive Medicine within the College and other units on the university campus. The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is a major medical research complex located within walking distance to the College of Veterinary Medicine and research collaborations with the Department of Radiology are well established.





Performance Objectives



TEACHING DUTIES



  • Clinical, didactic, and laboratory teaching of professional students, residents and interns in the Diagnostic Imaging Service, in conjunction with the diagnosis and treatment of patients presented to the OSU Veterinary Medical Center.



CLINICAL SERVICE AND OUTREACH DUTIES



  • All aspects of patient care associated with a busy Diagnostic Imaging practice including: patient management, client care, communication with referring DVMs, consulting with colleagues, medical record keeping on your cases, professional development, and participation in public relations activities.



RESEARCH AND SCHOLARLY DUTIES



  • Although extramurally funded research is not required for practice track faculty, the opportunity for participation in collaborative research projects, resident and graduate student projects is available.



OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS



  • Model and promote a culture of collegiality, professional citizenship, and collaboration in all academic endeavors to facilitate an excellent workplace atmosphere conducive to effective learning, scholarly achievement, and a high level of job satisfaction.

Education and Experience Requirements



Required: DVM/VMD and ACVR Diagnostic Imaging board eligibility.



Desired: ACVR Diagnostic Imaging board certification.
