The University of Miami Health System at Doral has an exciting opportunity for a full-time EKG Technician - Doral Clinic with a hire date of June 2024.
The University of Miami Health System will soon open the second phase to our state-of-the-art facility in Downtown Doral that serves as a western hub for our distinguished regional network of ambulatory services. This 160,000 square foot expansion will continue to bring world-class academic medicine, cutting-edge technology, and innovative treatment options to the rapidly growing Doral community. UHealth at Doral will have services through the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and the Desai Sethi Urology Institute, as well as specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, dermatology, and more. The expansion will provide residents with innovative, specialized medical services in the heart of their community. Once complete, UHealth at Doral will have 8 operating rooms, 3 endoscopy procedure rooms, 33 cancer treatment bays, over 60 multidisciplinary exam rooms, and supporting ancillary services like imaging, lab, and respiratory therapy. UHealth at Doral will open in September, 2024.
The EKG Technician performs electrocardiograms and provides data for diagnosis of heart ailments. Additionally, this employee edits and forwards final test results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation. The EKG Technician oversees the total care of test devices and equipment and explains procedures and processes to patients. Moreover, the incumbent compares findings to the standards to identify any problems.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Conducts recordings of electromotive instant variation in heart muscle of patient using electrocardiograph to provide information for diagnosis of all heart ailments.
2. Schedules patients for procedures and maintains logging and scheduling systems.
3. Moves electrodes along areas of the chest to record electromotive variations happening in various heart muscle areas.
4. Explains testing procedures to patients.
5. Makes preliminary analysis and interpretation of test results to facilitate physicians' study and diagnosis.
6. Attaches electrodes to chest, legs, and arms of patient, and connects electrodes to ECG machine.
7. Monitors electrocardiogram for normal and abnormal patterns.
8. Attaches electrodes of electrocardiograph or Holter monitor to patient to record information over extended period.
9. Edits and forwards final test outcomes to attending physician or healthcare professional to analyze and interpret data.
10. Performs assessments on patients of various conditions and ages considering the physical and physiological needs of every patient.
11. Develops and maintains positive interpersonal relations with other department personnel.
12. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
1. EKG performance and processing.
2. Holter connection and processing.
3. Zio patch connection and processing.
4. Ambulatory BP connections.
5. Stress test preparation, assistance during procedure and processing of exam documentation.
6. Finalizes procedure processing: completion of exams, billing charges, keeps cardiology logbook updated for daily statistics.
7. Checks to make sure all EKG procedures are crossing over to UChart once they are finalized by reading doctor.
8. Checks to make sure procedures are read by doctors daily.
9. Assists with clerical duties as needed/scheduling/ordering supplies.
10. Other duties might be assigned as needed by department's manager.

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Certification and Licensing:
Certification in relevant specialty or field (CCT- Cardiovascular Credentialing International)
BLS
Experience:
Minimum 2 year of relevant experience
