JOB SUMMARY:



The
IT Systems Engineer's main responsibility is to ensure the stability, security,
and efficient operation of the information systems that support the
organization's core functions. They will use their communication, analytical,
and problem-solving skills to monitor, maintain, support, and optimize all
networked software and operating systems. As a Systems Engineer, you will have
a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's
IT systems to ensure the highest levels of performance and security.



PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage and Monitor Systems:
Oversee all installed systems and infrastructure to ensure smooth
operation.
Installation and Configuration:
Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application
software, and system management tools.
Availability and Performance:
Proactively maintain high levels of systems and infrastructure
availability.
Performance Optimization:
Monitor and test application performance, identify bottlenecks, and
collaborate with developers to implement solutions.
Security and Redundancy:
Maintain security protocols, backup strategies, and redundancy measures.
Scripting and Automation:
Write and maintain custom scripts to enhance system efficiency and reduce
manual intervention.
Collaboration:
Work closely with project managers, software developers, hardware
engineers, and other stakeholders.
Support:
Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support.
Vendor Liaison: Communicate with vendors and other IT personnel to
resolve issues.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education:
BS/MS degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
Technical
Experience:
Proven working experience in
installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows based environments.
Solid administration and
performance tuning experience with application stacks (e.g., Microsoft
SQL, Remote Desktop Services, Azure).
Familiarity
with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
Knowledge
of virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
Enterprise
backup and recovery procedures (Rubrik)
System
performance-monitoring tools.
System
patching and hardening.
Preferred Experience: Networking, switching, firewall, network access controls, wireless, programming languages, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



Proficiency
in:

Microsoft Active Directory
System patching and hardening.
Data Center and current
equipment technologies.
Operating systems.
System performance-monitoring
tools.
Virtualization (VMware and
Hyper-V).
Storage
Technologies:
Knowledge of SAN or NAS.
Familiarity with Active
Directory/Global Catalogue (Pure Storage).
Exceptional
Abilities:
Load balancing, clustering,
and caching procedures and processes.
Project
Management and Cloud Computing:
Proficient in project
management.
Application design and
integration.
Cloud computing (specifically
Microsoft Azure and AWS).






ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS:

On-call availability one week per month
Sitting for extended periods working on a computer
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components
Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings
Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects up to 30 lbs., such as computers and peripherals
Works approximately 100% of time in temperature-controlled environment conducting administrative duties.
