Overview

The Accelerator seeks a dedicated Director Program Management and Strategy to be responsible for internal organizational management, partnership development, strategic communications, and personnel management to support the organization's programs.

Reporting to the faculty director, this individual will play a central role in ensuring that organizational strategy and priorities are clearly defined and effectively implemented.

The Director Program Management and Strategy will be responsible for substantial components of programs and make decisions and recommendations that are authoritative and have an extensive impact on the organization. They will be a key member of the leadership team and will participate in and lead policy and management decisions. This dynamic individual will make sure that work streams are connected that may otherwise remain siloed.

Representing the organization to potential partners and identifying opportunities to advance mutual goals, this individual will forge relationships and provide recommendations to the faculty director and advisors. The Director Program Management and Strategy will collaborate with the faculty director and other stakeholders to develop new opportunities for partnerships, funding, and project expansion while also expanding existing ones.

The role demands a creative and foresighted person who can exercise mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding novel and extensive programs and activities with numerous stakeholders. They will negotiate critical decisions with internal and external senior leaders, and work on complex technical matters, as well as managing relationships with external entities.



Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Organizational Management

- Provide strategic leadership to a newly established initiative.

- Provide recommendations and support to the FD, advisors, and executive committee in planning, policy, and strategic initiatives.

- Make key organizational decisions on resource allocation and key performance indicators.

- Advise on and track matters of strategic and operational importance; ensure team members and stakeholders (i.e., the Accelerator advisors) are aligned and working together to achieve shared objectives, avoid duplicative efforts, and facilitate resource sharing.

- In collaboration with other senior staff, lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of a planning, assessment, and evaluation system to ensure work is completed on time and within budget through project milestones, reporting mechanisms, progress monitoring and assessment, and resource alignment.

- Provide support, advice, and guidance on building team trust and cohesion.

- Design and propose new concepts and proposals supporting internal program growth.

External Partnerships

- Work closely with the FD for the Accelerator’s organizational launch and public-facing partnerships

- Establish new and expand existing partnerships to facilitate information sharing, project collaboration, and policy development and identify opportunities for partnerships and project expansion.

- Engage in public-facing presentations and meetings on behalf of the Accelerator, including roundtable discussions and development meetings.

- Ensure advisors and the organization have shared expectations and open, clear communication regarding maintaining and developing relationships.

- Coordinate the agenda, reference and research materials, and lead meetings for the Accelerator advisory board and associated governing entities. Ensure timely and efficient communication and problem-solving amongst senior executives, garnering creative outputs and driving Accelerator leadership follow-through.

Communications

- Support partner relationships by creating background and preparation material for meetings, round table discussions, events, and development engagements.

- Develop, manage, and create reports, presentations, policy memos, and other action-oriented, forward-facing research products in collaboration with the research team to engage funders and further the mission.

- Generate pitch decks and other strategic documents for various internal and external partners to garner support and scope collaborations.

- Ensure overall branding and communications approach align with strategic goals, objectives, and partners.

Personnel Management

- Oversee and manage the communications manager, administrative coordinator, and program coordinator. Ensure their success and growth as individual and team contributors.

- Supervise and manage the hiring, performance reviews, merit increase process, performance improvement, staff development, award nominations, and terminations of all internal staff, integrating industry best practices to foster a supportive, equitable, and growth-minded workplace.

- Ensure the Accelerator is responsive to and actively engaging policy-relevant research questions; support researchers in navigating pertinent data access and privacy regulations such as the EU’s Digital Service Act.



Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

- 12+ years essential work experience; 8+ years in a management position in a nonprofit organization, foundation, research or academic initiative, or government agency.

- Master’s degree in relevant field required.

Preferred Qualifications:

9+ years managing people and processes in a nonprofit organization, research or academic initiative or government entity
