Brief Summary of Position:

Work from written or verbal instructions and knowledge gained by job experience to perform a variety of tasks in the shipping, receiving, and warehousing of materials and products. This person will prepare related paperwork and documentation, pack product using either standard packing methods or pack to special instructions. This person will support continuous efforts in 5S and Lean initiatives towards process improvement.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions of Position:

  • Work from written and verbal instructions.
  • Comply with all plant and safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensure that work areas are kept clean and orderly.

Packing/Shipping

  • Generate picklist and pull materials from stock shelves. Re-boxing of parts may be required.
  • Schedule packaging priorities based on the shipping schedule.
  • Coordinate Outside Service parts to be packed and sent to Vendors.
  • Interface with Sales and Production Control personnel regarding special customer packaging requirements.
  • Ensure that parts are packed and loaded onto inventory shelves with accurate information and counts.
  • Generate certs and all documents required for shipments, exports and imports.
  • Ensure that all products are packaged properly, and all documents are in order. Communicate with other departments to resolve problems with packaging documentation, labeling, etc.
  • Confirm that package can be sent UPS, resolve any incomplete or missing information to shipments. Consolidate individual export shipments into one bill of lading.
  • Generate shipping labels, update UPS customer addresses, and create detailed packing slips by special customer request.
  • Reconcile UPS bills and resolve discrepancies with UPS.
  • Communicate Fed-x shipments as required.
  • Ensure that container shipments are properly prepared and labeled if working with hazardous items.
  • Scan completed job packets to the appropriate folders for record retention.

Receiving:

  • Load and unload trucks, inspect freight, sign off on freight bills and truck release forms.
  • Ensure all shipments are received into the reporting system and delivered to their destination in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the pick-up and delivery of packages throughout the facility; process and distribution of individual returns.
  • Ensure hazardous materials are moved and stored properly.
  • Verify count in containers for all inbound shipments.

Warehouse:

  • Responsible for warehouse inventory, storage and record keeping.
  • Conduct cycle counts (weekly, monthly, annually as required)
  • Manage inventory of consumables within supply cabinet and shelves.
  • Responsible for MRB cage and materials within.

General:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • None

Required Technical/Job Experience and Qualifications:

  • Warehouse and Shipping/Receiving experience preferred
  • Licensed to operate fork lift truck.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/blue prints and routing information so as to meet customer expectations.
  • Ability to manage time and work flow to best optimize efficiency for the department.
  • Strong communication skills to facilitate productive and consistent handling per customer requirements.
  • Strong personal organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.

Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED equivalent qualification from certified college.

Beneficial Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Licensed to drive and operate a fork lift truck.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers).
  • Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Standard work week is Monday through Friday, hours to be consistent with business unit; some off hours work expected.
  • Generally working in production environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 - 40 pounds and be able to physically assist with server moves and equipment relocation.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and use hand-trucks, as required.
  • Sitting and/or working at a computer for extended periods of time.
