Cooley Dickinson Medical Group Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is where experienced, highly trained professionals advance the health of patients through specialized, expert treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal (bones, ligaments, muscles, tendons) problems. The practice's holistic approach to orthopedics involves coordination of personalized services within the practice and with other providers, to ensure a comprehensive range of care to people of all ages. We have combined expertise in all major orthopedic specialties, including sports medicine, orthopedic trauma, hand & upper extremities, joint replacement and spine care.

Role Overview



We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant or EMT-B to support a provider in our Orthopedics and Sports Medicine office. The Medical Assistant will primarily be located in our Amherst office (170 University Drive, Amherst, MA 01002), and one day a week at our West Hatfield location (4 West Street, West Hatfield, MA 01088). The hours for this role are 8:30am-5:00pm and we are flexible with scheduling between both office locations! As true partners to our nurses and providers, our Medical Assistants get the opportunity to work autonomously to the top of their education/certification while also functioning as part of the collaborative team. Our Medical Assistants work 1 to 1 with their assigned provider.


Responsibilities include:




  • Ensuring efficient patient flow through the office

  • Preparing patient charts

  • Assisting during office visits (rooming, examinations, point of care testing, immunizations, procedures, and treatments as directed)

  • Performing clinically appropriate tasks related patient panel management (phone calls, test results, prescription refill, coordination of care, etc.)

  • Maintaining neat, clean, and safe patient care areas

  • Interacting with patients and their families in a professional, friendly manner consistent with their needs.






Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required



  • Completion of a formal medical assistant training program or active EMT-B certification required.



  • Current Basic Life Support certification (BLS) from a program approved by the American Heart Association required prior to employment.



  • CMA, AAMA, RMA, CNMA, or CCMA Medical Assistant certification preferred.
