The Opportunity:

LDIS LLC, a Tetra Tech Company, provides integrated engineering and design solutions for the Energy, Petrochem, Renewables, Water Treatment and Life Sciences markets is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern to join the team. Our team meets these changing needs by being a trusted partner to each of our clients. In addition to conventional facility solutions and designs, our projects include Hydrogen Electrolysis, Ammonia Production Facilities, Renewable Natural Gas Processing, Emissions Reduction Studies, Carbon Capture and Sequestration, wastewater, pharmaceuticals, and much more.

Your Role:

A structural engineer's primary responsibility is safety. They design and oversee the construction of various structures, ensuring they fulfill their intended purposes safely, economically, and functionally throughout their lifespan. This includes both new constructions and refurbishments of older structures. Structural engineers analyze immediate and future loads on buildings to ensure public safety. They assess foundations, beams, and overall structural integrity, working across different construction phases such as design, construction, extensions, conversions, and repairs. Collaboration with other engineers and designers is crucial throughout the process, in which a structural engineer must have strong analytical skills, communication abilities, and commercial awareness.
The successful candidate for this position will provide engineering support for the structural engineering group. This position is part of a team that specializes in structural engineering oil and gas midstream facilities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist a Civil/Structural engineer on various tasks and projects.
• Assist in the preparation of detailed engineering reports and supporting documents.
• Assist in the preparation of construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Assist in organizing department standards.
• Ensure standard engineering practices and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various reports and design projects.
• Interface with other engineering disciplines
• Accompany engineers to visit vendor facilities and jobsites, as necessary.
• Demonstrate a focus on least cost, safe design.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute work in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and compliant manner
• This is an on-site role that requires coming to the office.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience
• Third or fourth-year student at an ABET accredited Institution enrolled in bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity with relevant codes and industry standards.
• Eager to learn, detail oriented, and a great attitude

Technical Skills
• Basic engineering knowledge of structural analysis.
• Basic engineering knowledge of reinforced concrete design.
• Basic engineering knowledge of structural steel design.
• Familiarity with RISA, STAAD or other similar structural analysis programs.
• Familiarity with using MathCAD and spreadsheets.
• Ability to use a computer and computer software programs, including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, CADWorx, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
• Basic knowledge of the latest edition of the ACI 318, and AISC specifications.

Administrative Skills
• Execute the best design solution by applying industry knowledge while considering customer needs and budgeting requirements.
• Provide technical assistance for projects during bidding, design, permitting and construction.
• Ability to scope out a project and determine required deliverables.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work well with a team.
• Work cooperatively with engineers and designers.
• Timely and effective communication.

This part-time position has the following benefits available: medical, sick leave and 401k.

Salary Range: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour depending on level of experience, education & location.
