The Research Coordinator III will provide day to day administrative project management on the Texas Department and State Health Services (DSHS) Heart Disease and Diabetes Management and Prevention grant. The grant aims to improve the healthcare system's ability to identify patients at risk for developing diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The Research Coordinator III will also use practice facilitation skills to collaborate with healthcare systems to improve primary health care processes and outcomes, as related to diabetes and heart disease. The Research Coordinator III will provide scientific direction for research projects of considerable scope and complexity.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Assists with the day-to-day project management coordination for research projects to include personnel, facilities, and supplies in support of research project desired outcomes, budgets, and timeliness.
2. Secure and maintain partnerships with FQHCs, CBOs, and sub-contractors. Draft MOUs and contracts with organizations.
3. Ensure data collection from FQHCs is completed in a timely manner, compile results and provide data to the funder.
4. Ensure clinic readiness assessments for project activities and work closely with clinics to identify barriers and strategies for process improvement.
5. Collaborate with internal departments and sub-contractors to ensure project milestones are met.
6. Uses practice facilitation skills, i.e., organizational development, project management, quality improvement, and practice improvement approach and methods to build the internal capacity of a clinic to help meet project outcomes.
7. Assists in the preparation of progress reports and grant proposals to both private foundations and governmental agencies; works closely with the Office of Sponsored Projects on the submission of grants.
8. Assists with the preparation of budgets, initiates re-budgeting requests based on needs of research staff and authorizes expenditures for multiple projects. Attends research planning meetings to assist in the preparation of budget drafts for departmental leadership approval.
9. Prepares annual progress reports and applications for various committees and ensures that all staff has received the proper training/attended the appropriate training courses.
10. Maintains confidential records of collected data, and ensures accuracy and integrity of data. Data may include patient data and departmental programmatic data.
11. Prepares draft reports and communications for the departmental program/division leadership.
12. Interacts with representatives from state, federal, and private agencies regarding proposals and funded projects.
13. Provides work administrative direction and guidance to administrative staff personnel within the department.
14. May review contracts and develop training.
15. Develops, or adapts, educational materials for patients and clinic staff to support quality improvement
16. Assist with the development and submission of academic writing for manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations
17. Provide oversight to graduate students and lower-level staff
18. Other duties as assigned
Certification/Skills:
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Working knowledge of MS Office.
Preferred:
Experience working with clinics
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.
Preferred:
Master's degree in a related field
Minimum Experience:
Five (5) years of relevant experience. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
