Purpose:

The purpose of the Maintenance Technician is to monitor, inspect and make necessary repairs or installations to assist and develop a safe, efficient and effective maintenance program including HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Construction. While also tracking, relocating and recording the programs equipment, property and supplies as required by the department. Complete other duties as assigned to meet or exceed daily operational needs including 24/7 emergency services.


Job Duties:

Perform maintenance, repairs and support functions related to a variety of trades (i.e., electrical, lighting, grounds, galley repair, HVAC, carpentry, and painting); completes a variety of tasks which includes re-lamping, plumbing installation & repair, replacement of restroom stalls, partitions & related hardware, cleans drains, general mechanical repairs, general cleaning primarily at work locations, mechanical & shop spaces, transports & sets up of furniture, signage, fixtures, parts and other items as needed; works with and/or trains under the Facilities Director in the performance of daily job assignments as assigned. Familiarity with project management technology preferred.
Access other system problems, repair if possible or report further contractor assistance needed to supervisor.
Relocate YWCA property to meet operational needs.
Perform inspections, monitoring and open/close of building as assigned.
Assist in the 24/7 emergency on-call rotation.
Assure that YWCA premises are safe, secure and clean.

Formal Education/Experience:

Technical or vocational school education. High school diploma or equivalent; EPA Universal Certification; Familiarity with project management technology preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of operations, services and activities of a facility, lighting, plumbing, painting, carpentry and maintenance operations; knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations; knowledge of building system functions and inspection techniques; methods and techniques of both rough an finished carpentry; knowledge of electric voltage and its application to items under repair; methods and techniques of equipment and tool operation and preventative maintenance; safety hazards as related to work assignments related to team members and guest; customer service techniques; identify, evaluate and ensure worksite conditions and practices are safe to the team members and guest; provide or seek assistance in safeguarding area while maintaining compliance with all regulations; customer service techniques; pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.

Lifting, relocating furniture and equipment, snow removal, ladder work, electrical, hand and power tools. Must be able to climb ladders and roof up to 30 feet. Perform duties during or after inclement weather. Lifting 70 lbs.
