Serves as a Cloud System Engineer. Develops, and implements architecture for our on and off prem clouds. Provide Linux Server support, design, and development for customer and mission critical systems. Collaborate with Clemson teams and ensures compatibility with back-end systems and existing architectural directions. Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
60% - Essential - Infrastructure Engineering: Serves as a Cloud and Linux engineer for Clemson Infrastructure projects on and off premise. Maintains a close partnership with CSO team members and customers to implement and maintain Linux infrastructure and configuration. Undertakes day-to-day operational and user support. Assists in scripting automation tasks and as an administrator of multi-datacenter Linux deployments and related technologies. Serves as a technical resource.
20% - Essential - Infrastructure Development: Develops and customizes Linux virtual servers on and off premise. Help Deploy containers and manage container orchestration. Researches, designs, develops, writes and tests new complex computer technologies and software, contributing to departmental research and development projects. Consults with project managers, analysts, programmers, administrators, other IT professionals on issues, i.e. system design, limitations and capabilities, performance.
10% - Essential - Systems Support: Serves in on-call rotation. Follows industry standard best practices and CCIT policies and procedures.
10% - Essential - Trains and advises less skilled systems administrators and provides expert technical assistance for others. Serves as an engineering liaison between teams and departments. Determines best practices and appropriate architectures.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Experience in Linux Server Administration and Cloud Computing.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Linux operating systems. Ability to troubleshoot and optimize Linux-based systems.
Strong experience with one or more cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Knowledge of cloud services, serverless computing, and containerization.
AWS or RHCA or equivalent Linux Admin Certified
