Branch Manager, Rental - Heavy Industrial Equipment at Jetstream

Job Description:

Position Summary: The BM will report directly to the Director of Rentals and will have from 1 to 4 direct reports, depending on location. They will have responsibilities of direct oversight of all rentals and counter sale operations of their assigned location to include, but not limited to, general operational processes, strategic revenue growth objectives, inventory, invoicing, collections, and staff development.

Key Activities/Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for delivering revenue results directly related to the strategic growth objectives and budget for their assigned location.

  • Prepare yearly business plan with the Management team forecasting revenues, expenses, fleet ROI and utilization and overall branch growth

  • Manage overall branch operations to ensure safety, productivity, customer service and profitability

  • Oversee all safety matters, including audits, safety and environmental compliance, OSHA compliance. This includes properly maintaining records and documentation.

  • Maintain minimum equipment utilization.

  • Oversee sales efforts and business initiatives

  • Ensure that all revenues are properly recorded with Jetstream.

  • Review reports, including profit and loss statements, monthly operating reviews, yearly budgets and other reports detailing operational status

  • Keep current and accurate rental contracts, inspection reports, and insurance certificates for every piece of equipment on rent.

  • Responsible for arranging the fleet movement with customers and with other Rental Centers.

  • Manage personnel matters

  • Will assist with managing each direct report's workload and hours worked weekly.

  • Will individually perform annual performance reviews for each staff member assigned to their location.

  • Responsible for inventory control and reporting:

       o Parts used internally

       o Shipments in and out

       o Quarterly and yearly inventory counts (or other cycle counts as required)

       o Proper receiving and bin locating of parts

       o Ensuring all parts used and sent with rentals are properly tracked

       o Proper documentation of parts and accessories sold







  • Control and reduce shrink at the location.

  • Be accessible to customers after hours and on weekends or holidays.

  • Responsible for compliance with State and Federal OSHA, and the safe maintenance of all equipment used at the facility.

  • Have exceptional communication skills and will complete a monthly report detailing the activities of the location and the competition.  Understand and communicate the location's results against Key Performance Indicators.

  • Communicate equipment quality and/or operational issues to appropriate departments within Jetstream.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with various internal departments in order to facilitate rental needs.

  • Leverage vendor relationships and the purchasing department in order to provide the most cost-effective solution for standard external parts and service.

  • Sustain a rental equipment maintenance program that encompasses periodic maintenance expectations, service schedules, and work order documentation processes.

  • This person will have the ability to multitask while still delivering superior customer service in a fast-paced environment.

  • This role will be expected to use analytical approaches with data in order to assess all aspects of the rental business discussed herein, but not limited to, in order to maximize profitability and minimize costs.

  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 20%

  • Perform other duties, assignments and special projects as required.

Requirements 


  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor Degree preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of successful business management experience with profit and loss responsibility at a branch or other individual profit center

  • Knowledge and experience in the water blasting and/or equipment rental industry preferred

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Forklift certification desired

  • Water blasting knowledge desired

  • Process improvement knowledge desired

  • An understanding of business accounting principles and budget preparation

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and JDEdwards (Oracle based)

  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude ability

  • Outstanding communication and relationship building skills

  • Exhibit high levels of organization, professionalism, and team leadership

  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment

  • Possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure, all while maintaining attention to detail and quality

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
