Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems’ Atlanta, Georgia office has an opportunity for an Engineer 1 to join our Roadway Practice. This Engineer 1 will be a member of our roadway group and will assist in various tasks. All work will be in collaboration with other engineers, technicians, planners, and surveyors. Candidates with a background in preliminary engineering or development of detailed plans and specification are preferred; and must possess strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects

General Duties & Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

• Plan preparation.


• Quantity calculation.


• Geometric design.


• Drainage design.


• MOT, specifications, cost estimates and other related tasks.


• Microstation, InRoads / Open Roads, MS Office and other design software will be used.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.


• Experience with MicroStation/InRoads; Open Roads Design experience is a plus.


• Experience with Microsoft Office Programs.


• Familiarity with GDOT plan preparation requirements for roadway projects.  Experience with GA Municipalities preferred.


• Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of design experience.


• EIT certification.


• Experience within the transportation industry.

Work Environment:

• The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, construction and field assignments can be severe (i.e. Airport noise, inside factories, construction equipment, jack hammers, etc).


• The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and drive a car. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
