What’s the role?

The Senior Project Development Director will be responsible for working with multiple internal teams to ensure execution of an important project plan involving semiconductor technology, ensuring execution of the project plan and tracking. The Senior Project Development Director will perform planning for primary development of an in-line fab tool, specifically with expertise of real semi fab tool requirements, and will establish a network of suppliers and external partners, maintaining interface to support projects. The expectation is to drive the execution of ZEISS platform strategy by identifying commonality wherever applicable (e.g., interface internally with ZEISS BUs to identify where sub-systems are already available to save time & cost).  The position will also work with the patent department to screen the IP landscape and secure necessary IP.

Here’s what you’ll do:


  • Support the strategic planning for ZEISS strategy in Advanced Packaging


  • Drives development of workflow solutions for advanced packaging, failure analysis and production



  • Develop workflow solutions that leverage ZEISS portfolio of technologies and SW analytics



    • Help guide and align market trends, customer needs and appropriate solutions (HW, solution flows ad SW) internally


    • Coordinate internal teams to develop workflows that solve big problems, driving customer validation and identifying further options


    • Responsible for the product roadmap together with the team




  • In cooperation with the departments and interfaces within ZEISS, analyze market specification and elaborate technical requirements


  • Drives the strategic partnerships and is responsible for supporting with project management skills and taking an active lead on strategic projects


  • Develops and fosters strategic partnerships


  • Responsible for definition of an ILX business case with all relevant parameters and deriving scenarios from the business cases


  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams and technical leads


  • Supports with systematic project management methods and leading strategic projects


  • Responsible for materials, presentations, and communications to internal and external stakeholders and represents ZEISS in all aspects of internal and external interactions (also responsible for aligning and approving the materials, presentations and communications prior to external use)


  • Assessment of field and customer performance data together with solution and service managers to decide on improvement priorities


Do you qualify?


  • MS or PhD Degree in technical field strongly preferred.


  • 10+ years relevant experience working in a technical discipline working as an engineer or scientist for an advanced packaging related manufacturer.


  • Experience with application of light microscopy, x-ray, e-beam or ion beam imaging and associated analytical tools preferred.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills is required. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable communicating with the technical community and developing and delivering effective presentations to internal senior management.


  • Highly organized, meticulous and with a self-motivated “can do” attitude.


  • Strong multi-tasking skills, independent thinker, solutions-oriented personality


  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.  Valid Passport required. 


The annual pay range for this position is $172,000  – $215,000

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.

This position is also eligible for a performance bonus or sales commissions.  ZEISS also offers robust benefits, including medical plans, retirement savings plan and paid time off.
