Job Summary


The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro is accepting applications for an adjunct faculty member in its Industrial Electrical Maintenance/Mechatronics program at the Smyrna campus. The IEM adjunct faculty member is responsible to the President for instruction in the Industrial Electrical Maintenance/Mechatronics program.



Job Duties



  • % - * Responsible for providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction to adult and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field. * Provide students with a thorough understanding of the methods of diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment. Safety and knowledge of tools and materials is of critical importance. * Mechatronics portion incorporates advanced studies and troubleshooting in Electronics, Fluid Power, Motor Control, PLC logic and programming, Robots, and Mechatronics manufacturing. * Monitor, grade, and evaluate individual student progress; assist with maintaining student records in the college's student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; and assist in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates. * Maintain good public relations with business and industry, assist with advisory committee and cooperate with outside agencies. * This position may also supervise and follow up on students participating in cooperative education. - (Essential)



Minimum Qualifications


* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Minimum three (3) years of experience in the IEM field, preferably within the last five (5) years.
* Must be available for day program hours of instruction, Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.



Preferred Qualifications


* Post-secondary Skilled Trades credential from an accredited institution.
* Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


* Must show evidence of good character, organizational skills, and mature attitude.
* Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
* Must possess computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
* Must possess the communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with high school and adults.
* Strong hands-on technical background in the field.
* Must possess skills and knowledge to teach the theory and application in all phases of the IEM program.



Physical Qualifications:



  • Walking, bending, sitting, and squatting in order to demonstrate skills on campus equipment.

  • Able to use body members (arms, hands, fingers), tools, or special devices to work, move, guide, or place objects.

  • Communicating for extended periods while lecturing.

  • Sitting at a computer for extended periods to enter data.

  • Requires concentrated mental and visual attention; i.e., see at close range.

  • Lifting 50 lbs.





Salary Range:




This is an hourly position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, education and experience according to salary guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
