Overview
The BioLibrary Clinical Research Assistant 2 is responsible for performing research activities supporting the collection, processing, and distribution of human biospecimens for oncology research. Primary responsibilities include cohort scoping, coordination of subject enrollments with clinic staff, patient consenting, data and sample collection, processing and distribution of these resources, and maintenance of study related documentation. Other tasks may be assigned as needed to meet objectives of the OHSU Knight BioLibrary. The Research Assistant will be expected to collaborate closely with other teammates to efficiently complete assigned tasks.
Responsibilities
Education and experience:
Bachelor's in relevant field OR
Associate's AND 2 years of relevant experience OR
3 years of relevant experience OR
Equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required competencies:
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time
Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills: both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Access, Word, and PowerPoint) on Window OS
Must have demonstrated excellent customer service skills both on the phone and in person
Must possess energy and drive to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with courses in human biology, medicine, research ethics, or similar fields
Working with patients, especially in a clinical or research setting
Conducting consent dialogues
Handling, processing, and shipping human biospecimens
Handling sensitive or confidential information
Working with a LIMS or similar databases
Working in a small team
Keeping accurate written and electronic records
Communicating professionally by phone and email
Using MS Office Suite
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Advanced skills with MS Excel and Outlook
Familiarity with EHR systems, especially Epic
Working knowledge of research ethics, principles of informed consent, and HIPAA regulations
Familiarity with medical terminology, especially relating to oncology
