Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Transportation Roadway Intern to join the team in Atlanta, GA.

Sitting in our Design and Engineering family you'll create some of the world's most iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening up public places that bring people together.

This role sits within our Mobility GBA, and we partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today's mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world's growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities:

As a Roadway Transportation Intern, you will:

Have the opportunity to use various software platforms including Microstation, OpenRoads and related design & office software to Prepare conceptual designs and construction plans and complete transportation planning reports, roadway safety studies and general traffic engineering projects.

The candidate for this role will also assist in creating engineering design including geometric design of highways and streets, drainage design (hydrology and hydraulics) and completion of construction engineering and inspection tasks.

Collecting traffic and highway field data will be an integral role for our ideal candidate.

Desired Skills/ Attributes:


  • Proficient in the use of MS Office tools such as Excel, Word & Powerpoint
  • Basic understanding of the application of geometric and traffic operations principles including AASHTO, MUTCD, and state DOT requirements/policies
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with varying deadlines simultaneously

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications


  • Currently seeking Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or another closely related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EIT Certification
  • Experience using OpenRoads
