The Process Engineer provides first-line process technical support to the plant operations to ensure safe and efficient operation. The process engineer is responsible for identifying and implementing improvements to the process units, ensuring that changes are compliant with Koura procedures and governmental regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Provides process design support for production areas.
  • Initiates suggestions for plant improvements with respect to process to improve safety, capacity and/or cost.
  • Conducts engineering studies and evaluates new equipment.
  • Provides technical input for safety reviews and HAZOPs.
  • Provides technical input to equipment design and sizing.
  • Investigates and develops tests to optimize process conditions.
  • Provides technical support during outages and catalyst regeneration/changes.
  • Provides out-of-hours call-out coverage

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED


  • Basic Chemical Engineering knowledge.
  • Ability to perform standard chemical engineering calculations, e.g., fluid flow, pressure drop in piping. relief valve, rupture disc sizing, distillation calculations, reaction calculations, material and energy balance calculations, physical property calculations, heat exchanger sizing calculations.
  • Proficient in using spreadsheet software.
  • The position is responsible with providing a highly hazardous production area with technically sound advice and possessing ability to provide basic engineering designs.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to all departments and all levels.
  • General knowledge of basic hardware and software and uses of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, and web-based software
  • Knowledge in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) and Safeguarding
  • 8-10 years of production experience

EDUCATION REQUIRED


  • B.S. Chemical Engineering
