As a Technical Assistant on the Milford Analytical Lab, you will analyze materials and problem-solve, to perform root cause evaluations of paint and coatings. You will work with polymer and formulation chemists and project leaders within our Innovation Center to assist customers from Packaging SBU at PPG. You will report to the Technical Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with other technical associates to plan, prepare, and execute experiments geared toward root cause analysis of production and line issues.


• Follow standard lab procedures for sample preparation such as extractions, filtering, draw downs, and centrifugation with guidance from senior team member.


• Independently complete analytical testing on liquid paints and coated panels utilizing analytical tools such as FTIR spectroscopy, GC, GC/MS, HPLC, GPC, ICP, etc.


• Recognize problems and unusual results in their work and enact countermeasures to correct.


• Ability to understand, record and communicate detailed information accurately is required.


• Maintain the Analytical lab by restocking supplies, disposing of waste, coordinating repairs, and ordering materials to replenish inventory.


• Adherence to company EHS policy

Qualifications

• High school education with high school chemistry experience

• Computer, mechanical and mathematical skills

• Hands-on laboratory experience a plus

• An associate degree preferred but not required.
