Summary of Role:

Development and qualification of STT-MRAM bit cells for FinFET and FDSOI technologies in close cooperation with other GLOBALFOUNDRIES departments. The work location will be Malta. This engineer will report to the global NVM manager in Dresden, Germany.



Essential Responsibilities:



  • Definition of MRAM bit cell layout.

  • Definition of MRAM SLMs and MRAM array content in close cooperation with the respective design teams.

  • Definition of test programs for WET testing and MRAM array characterization in close cooperation with the respective test and yield teams. Support of the bring-up of MRAM characterization tools.

  • Evaluation of different MRAM bit cell variants including access FETs and MTJ.

  • Driving process decisions based on this evaluation in close cooperation with the F8 Integration and yield teams.

  • Definition and characterization of program/ erase algorithms to optimize MRAM bit cell parameters (read speed, leakage, read margin, write margin, retention, endurance, ...).

  • Cooperation with the compact modeling team to create and validate SPICE models for the MRAM bit cell.

  • Cooperation with the reliability team to define reliability characterization procedures




Other Responsibilities:



  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

  • Close cooperation with the PDK team for MRAM enablement.

  • Customer communication as required.




Required Qualifications:



  • Education - Minimum requirement is a Bachelor's degree in microelectronics or physics or similar subjects with an emphasis on NVM memory bit cells, devices and spintronics.

  • Experience - Minimum Years of 5 ... 10 years of industry experience in the field of STT-MRAM memory devices depending on the highest degree.

  • Skills - Proficient in development of STT-MRAM bit cells, including their characterization and optimization. Excellent understanding of the manufacturing process steps determining the electrical and magnetic performance of STT-MRAM bit cells. Practical experience of the electrical and magnetic characterization of STT-MRAM bit cells, the MTJ and the access device. Good understanding of the process flow of sub 2x nm silicon manufacturing processes, ideally based on FinFET technologies. Experienced user of standard data evaluation tools. Advanced user of Microsoft Office Tools. Excellent presentation skills.

  • Travel - < 10 %. Select travel for customer visits or visiting different GlobalFoundries sites.

  • Fluency in English Language - written & verbal.




Preferred Qualifications:



  • Education - Master's degree or Ph.D. degree in microelectronics, physics or similar subjects.

  • Experience - Ph.D. degree with 5+ years of industry experience.

  • Skills - Knowledge about FDSOI technology and devices. Proficiency in the use of tools like D3 for data analysis.

  • Project management skills - i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong planning & organizational skills.




Expected Salary Range

$99,000.00 - $187,900.00
