Job Summary:



The Managing Director, Regulatory Relations Management, for Webster Bank is responsible for ensuring there is an effective Regulatory Relations Program in place. In this position, the Managing Director drives the strategic agenda for Regulatory Relations activities, for fostering and maintaining effective partnerships with internal stakeholders, and for ensuring that Webster is proactive in responding to information requests from the banking regulatory agencies, and for managing regulatory reviews and examination. The Managing Director is responsible for implementing the Bank's Regulatory Relations Policy and for advising the lines of business on the preparation of documentation and presentations to demonstrate regulatory compliance practices across each of the Bank's lines of business. The Managing Director is responsible for weekly and other periodic reports of regulatory activity, including to the Board of Directors.



Job Summary:



  • Responsible for managing a team of at least two or more colleagues responsible for internal coordination of regulatory activity.


  • Responsible for maintaining an up-to-date schedule of regulatory exams and individuals in areas of the bank to serve as liaisons and key points of contact.


  • Coordinate the collection, review, and provision of information request items for reviews, examinations, and for ongoing supervision activities with the Bank's primary regulators.


  • Provide lines of business with guidance based on knowledge of Federal Reserve, OCC, FDIC, and CFPB requirements in handbooks, guidance, and other directive information.


  • Manage bank records effectively by developing filing methods and record keeping for reference and to minimize duplicate requests from the line of business.


  • Work confidentially with secretaries of key Bank committees on requests related to board-level information.


  • Maintain confidential supervisory information in accordance with regulatory requirements and train/advise bank management on same.


  • Develop reporting on key exam and ongoing supervision activities coordinated by Regulatory Relations and other key regulatory meetings and developments.


  • Engage Risk Program Owners and First Line Control Officers in regulatory requests to ensure appropriate second line oversight, where appropriate.


  • Escalate potential regulatory citations to the Chief Compliance Officer and to the Chief Risk Officer


  • Occasional travel to other corporate locations required.



Education/Experience/Skills:



  • Must have at least 8 to 10 years of cumulative experience in Compliance, Risk, or Audit


  • Candidates must have a bachelor's or master's degree.


  • Deep knowledge of regulatory relations with experience in similar role required.


  • Candidates with ABA Certified Regulatory Compliance Management (CRCM) or Certified Enterprise Risk Management (CERP) preferred.


  • Candidates with extensive banking experience with a financial services or banking organization are eligible for consideration.


  • Broad knowledge of banking laws and general risk management concepts required. • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, are required Knowledge of document management systems, including TEAMS preferred Knowledge of banking products and services.

The estimated salary range for this position is $180,000USD to $195,000USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
