Job Summary:

Provide legal and administrative support to team of 3-5 attorneys in the Americas region (U.S., Canada and Latin America) of CooperVision.  Draft certain form contracts, NDAs and other commercial contracts and make recommendations with respect to same.  Support Americas Legal Team with some administrative tasks, including arranging travel, expense processing, PowerPoint creation and document management. Provide additional assistance for projects for Americas Team and Global Legal, as necessary.

Support CooperVision’s Americas Legal Team attorneys and internal clients on all matters handled by the CooperVision, Inc. Americas Legal Team (U.S., Canada and Latin America) as well as ad-hoc Global Legal Projects, as arising.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:


  • Commercial Paralegal Support:  Under the supervision of commercial attorneys, drafting, reviewing and revising contracts using templates, forms, and standard Ts & Cs.

  • Administrative Support:  Provide certain administrative support to Americas Legal Team, including supporting retention of external law firms and processing of bills, booking travel, processing attorney T&E expenses, creating and editing PowerPoint presentations, organizing meetings, and maintaining and organizing electronic files and legal documents using relevant software and databases.

  • Ad-hoc projects:  As directed by attorneys, participate in or independently (i) conduct research, (ii) create or revise templates, (iii) generate “playbooks” and other internal client self-help resources, including creation and maintenance of online resources, (iv) assist in developing and implementing training materials and programs for Legal Team to train clients on various legal topics. 

  • Actively identify opportunities to improve current Legal Team processes and implement new processes; collaborate independently and cross-functionally with other regional legal teams and internal clients to share such enhancements and best practices that improve overall operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Prior administrative assistant, law office, or paralegal experience is not necessarily required, but strongly encouraged.  Preferred candidate would be a commercial paralegal also willing to provide certain administrative assistant support.  Alternatively, an experienced administrative assistant with a desire to grow skills into a more traditional paralegal role would be strongly considered. Successful candidate with appropriate skills can be trained on the job for certain of the responsibilities.  Compensation will reflect successful candidate’s mix of experience.

  • Normal office environment.

  • Prolonged sitting in front of a computer.

Experience:


  • No minimum required experience but prior administrative assistant or paralegal experience in a corporate environment or commercial legal team of law firm will be advantageous in the evaluation process.

Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but Associate’s Degree, paralegal certificate, prior experience will also be considered.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $66,767 and $89,023 per year and may include cost of living adjustments.  The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future.  This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
