As a setup technician in the Extrusion department you are an essential part in helping Entegris be part of the future of Innovation. The extrusion department produces plastic pipes and tubes that are utilized by our customers to transport a variety of chemicals. In this role you will set up and operate a plastic extruder, troubleshoot production issues, and monitor extruded product dimensions by following Standard Operating Procedures and high-quality standards.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Interprets complex diagrams detailing extrusion specifications for each work order. Sets up extrusion machinery based on work order standard operating procedures.

  • Mounts, adjusts, and maneuvers specified extruder tooling in accordance with the provided work order specifications and engineer blueprints.

  • Adjusting extruder’s speed in accordance to order specifications or as needed in the extrusion process.

  • Sets up and records quality measurement system embedded in extruder to continuously monitor thickness and diameter of the extruded products to ensure it meets work order’s desired dimensions.

  • Sets up and adjusts automatic length and unit counter to monitor quantity of extruded materials.

  • Ensures proper adjustments, alignment, temperature control, and extrusion machine calibration throughout the production process.

  • Visually inspects and takes measurements of extruded products to ensure compliance with high-quality standards.

  • Works with the extrusion team lead and process technician to implement extrusion machine adjustments based on specific work order specifications or complex technical issues.

  • Uses SAP and other electronic systems to find, record and generate documentation throughout the extrusion process. Records all output and production data in ERP systems and maintain compliance with all online training and documentation requirements.

  • Finalizes all required paperwork thoroughly and timely (i.e. Production Reports, Rack Tickets, Labels, Component Sheets, Rework Sheets, SAP Transactions etc.). Maintains accurate attribute/variable charts of rejected materials.

  • Integrates on all key business processes to influence customer satisfaction, waste elimination, growth, cost effectiveness and product/system quality. Promotes and implements use of continuous improvement tools to eliminate non-value activities. Participates actively in continuous improvement activities such as 6s, Kaizen events, etc.

  • Adheres to all safety protocols and procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE usage, and equipment guarding. Maintains a clean and safe work area.

  • Completes miscellaneous tasks as assigned in support of the larger organization and production goals.

Qualifications (Education, Training, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, etc.):

  • Must be 18 years or older and have the right to work in the US without sponsorship.

  • At least one 1-2 years of previous experience in a manufacturing setting.

  • Previous experience with plastic extrusion set up and operation is preferred.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and machine troubleshooting skills.

  • Basic knowledge about powered hand tools and measuring tools.

  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.

  • Computer and data entry skills.

  • Ability to understand and interpret work order blueprints.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team setting.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.

  • Proven ability to execute manufacturing processes within a tight tolerance.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required to be worn at all times while on duty. This includes safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and high-visibility vests.

  • Adherence to cleanroom attire standards is required at all times while on duty. This includes the use of specified protective gear and garments (gown, hair and beard nets, shoe coverings, and gloves) designed to maintain a clean and controlled work environment.
