Post Doctoral Researcher to pursue specialized research training, education and experience under the guidance of Dr. Jill Heathcock in the Pediatric Assessment and Rehabilitation Laboratory (PEARL lab); plans, designs and executes experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the assigned research lab; collects and analyzes data for research sponsored by appropriate agencies and institutions; identifies and selects problems to be studied; develops and troubleshoots new experimental techniques and protocols; attend research seminars; contributes to manuscript preparation and supports technical writing; participates in the preparation of grant applications for extramural funding; mentors undergraduate and graduate research assistants; performs additional duties as assigned.
Experience Desired
Experience with assessment of infants and children with and without disabilities is highly relevant. Must be familiar with the current literature on the assessment and treatment of children with and without neurodevelopmental disabilities. Processing video data using emerging technologies such as marker-less motion capture, behavioral coding with datavyu, and eye tracking is desirable. In addition, human subjects training, and assessment of motor skills in children, including video and 3D motion capture, is preferred but not required. The ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams is required. Minor coding is expected, however programing knowledge using MATLAB, python, ruby, or R is a plus. Additional training and certifications in GIS and pediatric databases such as PEDSnet are considered are desirable. Those with a Ph.D. in rehabilitation, biomechanics, engineering, kinesiology, education, psychology and other related fields are encouraged to apply.
