Job Title:Clinical Laboratory ManagerDepartment:University Hospital | Lab Compliance and Point of Care TestingScope of Position

The Clinical Laboratory Manager is responsible for the monitoring and coordination of the point-of-care testing program for all the clinical laboratories and other laboratory testing locations throughout the OSU health system and University. They must work with various medical staff to follow clinical laboratory testing regulations.





Position Summary


This position is responsible for the daily operations and management of all aspects of the point-of-care testing for the clinical laboratories and other CLIA laboratories throughout the health system and university campus. This position will provide leadership to the point of care coordinators to ensure testing personnel, including nursing, radiology, perfusion, the operating room, respiratory and other locations performing laboratory testing have proper documentation of education, training, and competency assessment. The point of care manager reviews proficiency testing surveys at the point of care sites, reviews monthly quality reports, provides resources on laboratory testing, performs inspections, maintains a comprehensive list of laboratories and testing provided, and serves as resource for CLIA laboratories. This position will direct projects and present at Medical Center committees. The manager will be responsible for timekeeping, budgeting, new equipment evaluation, information technology, and CAP, CLIA, TJC compliance. The point of care manager works under the direction of the Clinical Laboratory Compliance Director and the Clinical Laboratory Associate Director as well as the Medical Directors and Division Directors.


Minimum Qualifications



For Hire: Bachelor's degree in medical technology or biologic science required with Medical Technology certification and 5 years of clinical laboratory experience. Experience with point of care testing and knowledge of CLIA regulations.




Ongoing: Maintains certification status. Meets mandatory education and health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates competence in the technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.
