POSITION: The College of Education and Human Sciences, School of Educational Foundations, Leadership & Aviation, is seeking a tenure track Assistant Professor in Aviation and Space. The successful candidate will engage in scholarly activity and teach graduate and undergraduate program courses, specifically in areas appropriate to the program needs. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in the university's land grant mission, and a desire to make a positive impact on the community through scholarship teaching, and service.  RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

*       Teach graduate and undergraduate courses.*       Perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in conformity with the mission, policies and procedures of the program, college, university and accrediting agencies.*       Evaluate and document student assignments, learning, skills, and abilities promptly.*       Serve as a resource person in areas of expertise and to other faculty and personnel of the community.*       Serve the university, college, and program, including committee work as appropriate.*       Adhere to all policies within the Oklahoma State University as well as program specific policies.

*       Participate in university activities and professional organizations as a member.


*       Serve in student recruiting and retention efforts for the program.


*       Participate in curriculum implementation, revision, and evaluation.


*       Participate in professional development commensurate with program needs.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate with an emphasis in aviation/aerospace or closely aligned area.
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS:

*       FAA commercial single and multi-engine pilot certificate.

*       The ability to meet requirements to act as a ground instructor under 14 CFR Part 141 with an appropriate flight or ground instructor certificate or will be able to obtain an appropriate ground instructor certificate.*       Aviation experience in either the United States military and/or civilian air carrier industry.

*       Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students.


*       A clearly articulated research agenda and/or

*       Peer-reviewed research publications.

GENERAL INFORMATION:The Oklahoma State University Aviation and Space Program offers four undergraduate degree options: professional pilot, aviation security, aviation management, and technical services management. In addition, the program offers an online Master of Science in Aviation and Space degree, as well as a Doctor of Education in Applied Educational Studies - Aviation and Space specialization. The position will be located at the main campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma, home of a fully supported and growing flight center that includes a growing fleet of Cirrus SR-20's, Cessna 172's, Cessna 152's, Piper Seminoles, and a strong group of growing enthusiastic and talented students. The aviation and space program has 550 undergraduate and graduate students. Since the spring semester of 2022 our program has enjoyed the newly constructed, 12,000-square foot, Ray and Linda Booker OSU Flight Center. Stillwater provides a combination of large city amenities but maintains the charm of a smaller community. Stillwater is ideally situated to Oklahoma City and Tulsa. A short drive provides an opportunity for dining, cultural, and professional sporting events. Stillwater is a remarkable community and offers affordable housing, excellent schools and has been ranked as one of America's safest cities.
