The Data Analyst is a grant funded position which reports to the Executive Director for Institutional Effectiveness Planning (IEP) in collaboration with the Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Affairs (VPEMSA). The Data Analysist will support Title III initiatives through the collection, tracking, analysis, evaluation and visualization of data for decision-making and reporting grant project goals. The Data Analyst will work as part of the Rhodes State College Institutional Research (IR) team to develop and maintain data dashboards/visualizations, assist with data requests related to federal reporting requirements (as needed), and create other data-informed materials which augment the availability, accessibility, use of resources.
Duties & Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities includes, but are not limited to:
Serve as a member of the Title III Grant core team, including attending regular meetings and providing data for grant activities;
Develop, maintain, and interpret internal and external data dashboards and other data visualizations related to project activities;
Coordinate the gathering and analysis of data for the purposes of grant reporting and compliance;
Update, verify, and manage data from multiple databases;
Create and launch professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to request, interpret, and utilize institutional data;
Create reports related to Title III that summarize data using clear and concise charts and tables;
Maintain a secure data environment, and ensure confidentiality of information secured and controlled by Institutional Research;
Perform other duties as required.
Experience, Skills & Abilities
Required:
Demonstrated expertise in data analysis and an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables.
Experience in writing functional specifications and documentation with strong knowledge of Microsoft products and data visualizations software.
Responsive to data needs and have the ability to effectively organize projects.
Detail oriented, with a focus on quality, accuracy and continuous improvement.
Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
Applicant must be self-motivated, collaborative, and have good interpersonal skills.
Experience with the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data for reporting and decision-making, survey design and analysis of results.
Preferred:
Use of MS SQL Management Studio.
Working knowledge of relational database technology, data mining, and higher education administrative systems; experience with Ellucian Banner and Tableau a plus.
Experience in higher education, with the National Student Clearinghouse, use of StudentTracker and reporting to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).
Education & Certifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, social sciences, or related field.
