The Department of Psychology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position to support our growing undergraduate majors. This 9-month non-tenure track position begins August 1, 2024, and is renewable yearly, contingent upon evidence of excellent teaching and the department's staffing needs.  The standard teaching load is 4 undergraduate course sections per semester, although course releases for service and administrative responsibilities (e.g., coordinator of our research methods courses) may be available. The University of Tennessee has a well-established promotion system for non-tenure track faculty which leads to 3 year, and then 5 year, contracts and our department offers mentoring to support your success in the promotion process. As faculty members, lecturers are invited to participate in the shared governance of the department. Knoxville continues to be an affordable place to live and boasts a vibrant arts and culture scene as well as easy access to water sports and other outdoor activities including the Smoky Mountains National Park.  The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.


The psychology department offers two undergraduate degrees: the BA in psychology, which, with over 1200 majors, is one of the largest at the University, and a BS in neuroscience, the fastest growing major at the University, with more than 600 majors.  The Department also offers PhDs in our APA-accredited Clinical and Counseling psychology programs, as well as MA and PhD degrees in Experimental Psychology (Neuroscience and Behavior, Cognitive and Developmental Sciences, and Social). We currently have 36 tenure-line faculty and 7 full-time non-tenure track faculty, as well as several part-time lecturers. We value excellence in undergraduate education, and many of our instructors win teaching awards at department, college, university, and national levels. Qualifications:


 

Applications are sought from candidates with a PhD in any area of psychology, or a related field, who have demonstrated outstanding undergraduate teaching skills.  Applicants who anticipate having their PhD by December 2024 may be considered.
