Seeking: Assistant Professor of Dance

Oklahoma State University Theatre is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join the department as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Dance beginning in August of 2024. The faculty member in this position will serve as the Director of Dance, have oversight of the dance minor program, and be involved in all aspects of dance within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in dance and provide oversight of all dance instruction
  • Choreograph one musical theatre production per academic year
  • Facilitate an annual dance production or showcase
  • Maintain an active research or creative activity profile
  • Provide mentorship and academic advising to undergraduate dance students
  • Oversee the dance curriculum and minor program
  • Participate in departmental and university service

  • Qualifications:

  • A terminal degree (MFA, doctorate, or equivalent) in dance or related field
  • Professional musical theatre dance and choreography experience
  • Successful teaching experience at the university level
  • A record of creative or scholarly achievements in the field of dance
  • Commitment to teaching and mentoring from a dynamic multicultural perspective.
