Compensation: The starting annual base salary range for this position is $55,800-$70,000 (USD).

Position Summary and Responsibilities


Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Advancement Communications, the Assistant Director of Advancement Communications-Digital provides email marketing, social media, and other digital marketing and website support for Vassar's Office of Advancement. This position is primarily responsible for designing digital campaigns for donor acquisition that incorporate higher-ed and digital marketing best practices along with supporting the creation of donor relations digital materials.
The Assistant Director for Advancement Communications - Digital collaborates with the team's content creators along with teams across Advancement and the College to develop innovative digital products that span email, social media, and the web. Additionally, this position serves as a thought partner to the Associate Vice President for Advancement Communications.
Responsibilities:

  • Work with annual giving to design email and social media marketing campaigns for donor acquisition that incorporate higher-ed and email marketing best practices.
  • Monitor email, social media, and web analytics, and provide reporting and collaborative support to the Associate Vice President for Advancement Communications in the development of digital marketing goals.
  • Develop and implement social media strategy, with a focus on LinkedIn, platform support in partnership with campus Communications to better link alums to Vassar.
  • Work on developing digital donor relations strategies that include the creation of stewardship digital impact reports that build upon current donor relations best practices to produce meaningful and innovative interaction with donors.
  • Project manage the transitioning of several externally maintained websites to in-house websites in conjunction with campus partners.
  • Support gaps and upticks in broadcast email request fulfillment through MailChimp, along with Advancement website updates, as needed.
  • Support Editorial and Invitation Calendar creation and maintenance on project management tool, Asana.
  • Develop and maintain familiarity with and fluency in communicating about the College's goals and priorities.
  • Ensure that the College's values of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging are woven into all Advancement Communication materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Qualifications


  • A minimum of five to seven years of related experience, preferably in a nonprofit or high-ed environment; however, those with non-traditional experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in digital marketing; however, those who hold significant experience, training, and/or certificates in the areas of expertise will also be considered.
  • Experience and proficiency in MailChimp, Salesforce, LinkedIn (along with other social media platforms), and WordPress, preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of advancement/fundraising communications and higher-education best practices, preferred but gaining this knowledge can be supported with additional position training.
  • Storyteller capable of inspiring and motivating an audience (e.g., alums and donors) through words and images.
  • The ability to create concise content and review materials on time.
  • Proficiency in project management tools, including Asana. Demonstrated ability to manage projects across multiple teams to a successful completion.
  • Ability to quickly learn the tone and style of the College for use in communications and design.
  • Demonstrated ability to to interact effectively with a diverse community of internal and external constituents, work independently, maintain confidentiality, and have strong organizational skills.
  • Able to effectively manage deadlines and multiple, competing priorities.
