Job Purpose/Summary

The Large Electric Power Systems Division has an opening for a Genset Management Specialist. As a Genset Management Specialist you will track and manage the status of gensets for their delivery and build into North American Solutions Enclosures. The Successful candidate will manage the day-to-day tracking and communication of the Genset component to support the North America Solutions Package builds.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

This position will provide Genset tracking and status updates to support Solutions Project Management team. It will coordinate deliveries and delays impacting the multiple Solutions Packaging facilities. You will also take part in development of mitigation plans for gensets missing delivery or project targets. This position will also track the Genset BOM Review status and manage meetings to ensure this is performed to meet Project timelines. This will be accomplished through the use of multiple online tools and rigorous communication between multiple teams.

What you will do:

Genset tracking/status updates to support Project Management, AMSOL, & PSN Execution teams

  • Will use Online Microsoft Power BI, MS Outlook, MS Excel sheets and internal Caterpillar Genset factory systems to confirm genset status daily.
  • Daily Updates to Microsoft Project Online tasks related to gensets that support Solutions Project timelines.
  • Communicate updates or delays at weekly Project Meetings.
  • Update Solutions Factory Schedules with latest genset dates.
  • Perform weekly review to identify all Critical Gensets impacting all North America Solutions Projects.
Genset tracking/status of BOM review Quality gate for Solutions Packaging (Weekly)
  • Will setup and run weekly Genset BOM Review meeting with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Set a weekly agenda and priority list of genset BOM review organized per Project.
  • Maintain a list of Projects and Genset BOM review status.
  • Update Microsoft Project Online Genset BOM review tasks.
What you must have:
  • Degree requirement: Degree required or equivalent experience.
  • Communication: Knowledge of the concepts, tools and techniques for effective listening and communicating; ability to apply these theories to receive, transmit and accurately interpret information and ideas.
    • Good written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to work in-person and remotely as needed.
    • Ability to work with diverse personalities.
  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
    • Strong Organizational skills.
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
    • Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for own responsibilities.
  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
    • Experience with Microsoft tools including Excel, Word, Teams, & Outlook
    • Engages appropriate subject matter resources to effectively resolve technical issues.
    • Assumes accountability for personal technical performance and holds others responsible for theirs.
