In this role, you will be a member of our rapidly growing Energy and Sustainability Division. We partner with businesses across various industries to navigate the complexities of climate change, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting. Our team of experts is dedicated to driving positive environmental impact through innovative solutions and strategic consulting.



Responsibilities

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Corporate ESG and Sustainability Analyst to join our team in a mid-level manager role. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in GHG accounting, ESG reporting, and familiarity with local and international reporting frameworks and standards. The Climate Scientist will play a key role in advising clients on climate-related risks and opportunities, guiding them towards sustainable practices, and supporting them in achieving their ESG goals. This position will directly support Cumming’s own ESG reporting efforts and various climate commitments; additionally, this role will support clients in the transportation, education, retail, and municipal sectors.

  • Oversight and support of Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions calculations, in collaboration with clients and third parties.
  • Development of data outputs/visualizations and analytics to understand drivers of changes in emissions, energy, water and waste.
  • Contribute to the delivery of sustainability, climate, and environmental related project deliverables for clients in both public and private sectors.
  • Support Cumming’s internal ESG reporting efforts and climate commitments.
  • Manage projects related to GHG accounting, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Provide technical guidance on ESG reporting standards such as CDP, GRI, ISSB/SASB, and TCFD.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate climate considerations into business strategies and operations.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, regulations, and best practices in climate science, sustainability.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions and workshops on climate-related topics for internal staff and clients.
  • Develop tools, databases, and other tracking mechanisms to support sustainability program implementation and assessment.
  • Serve as a technical resource to clients and provide advice on program direction related to sustainability and climate projects.
  • Develop annual report documents, communication pieces, and other internal and external communications related to sustainability programs and projects.
  • Assess existing client sustainability and environmental programs and identify areas of opportunity and innovation.
  • Proven experience to diplomatically resolve issues through understanding conflicting inputs, achieving alignment, and proposing go-forward solutions.
  • Optional: Contribute to ESG rating assessments and analysis for clients.
  • The duties and responsibilities are not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.


Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Planning, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 3+ years' of professional experience in ESG and GHG accounting.
  • Knowledge of current sustainability and climate issues.
  • Technical expertise and experience with GHG accounting methodologies, data analytics and tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.), and carbon neutrality strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks and standards, including CDP, GRI, ISSB/SASB, and TCFD.
  • Excellence in clear, well-documented, and transparent accounting of all aspects of projects from budgeting and financing strategies to communication of outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in sustainability and energy technologies, applications, financing, and best practices.
  • Optional: Experience or interest in ESG rating methodologies and analysis
  • Some local travel is necessary and reliable transportation, a valid driver license, and insurance is required.
  • Relevant sustainability and/or climate certifications desired.
