Job Summary:

The Entry Level Civil Engineer will collaborate on the civil/ structural design of steel and concrete structures related to marine terminals, industrial, bulk material handling and process facilities. This includes docks, foundations, retaining walls, structural steel platforms, bents and towers, as well as modification to existing structures and deep/shallow foundation systems. This work involves basic hand or spreadsheet calculations and/or computer modeling, using software such as RISA, STAAD and/or SACS from conceptual engineering through construction. This also includes coordinating with Engineers, Project Managers, Designers and Drafters of civil and other disciplines to accomplish project tasks, working under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

· Collect data, log information;

· Assist with Review of Construction Documents;

· Assist with Permit Applications;

· Make notation during technical meetings and develop meeting minutes;

· Assist onsite with dock inspection and assessment;

· Observe and record construction activities;

· Assist with review of construction submittals;

· Perform Wind Load Calculations;

· Perform steel beam, column and connection calculations

· Design pipe and tray supports;

· Design shallow and deep foundations;

· Attend project discussions/internal meetings with other disciplines

· Participate in project meetings with certifying agencies

· Participate in project meeting/communications with clients

· Perform 2D and 3D Structural Analysis using advanced software

· Design Reinforced Concrete paving, beams, columns and foundations;

· Create Geotechnical, Hydrographic, and Topographic scopes of work;

· Design personnel walkways;

· Design monorail beams;

· Analyze dock inspection results, determine recommendations, and create report;

· Perform mooring calculations;

· Perform industrial building inspection and assessment;

· Perform in place analysis using advanced software;

· Perform transportation (acceleration) analysis;

· Perform pile soil interaction analysis using advanced software;

· Perform vibration analysis;

· Perform lift analysis using advanced software;

· Size lift rigging;

· Design lift eyes.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

· BS or MS in Structural or Civil Engineering;

· Candidates graduation target dates May 2024 and December 2024;

· Engineering in Training Certificate preferred;

· College level understanding of ASCE, ASHTO, AISC, design process, operational purpose/use, calculations and technical analyses;

· Availability and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously;

· Availability and ability to work overtime as needed based on project needs;

· Strong written and verbal communications skills;

· Internship experience is a plus;

· Requires the ability and availability to work overtime and the ability to travel to offsite (may include offshore) locations (may require multi-day trips);

· Ability to interact with staff at all levels.

Working Conditions:

· Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private office) but may require occasional travel to off-site work locations;

· Field duties may require outdoor work in a plant or offshore platform atmosphere;

· Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;

· Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels;

· Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;

· May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;

· May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.

Physical Requirements (With or without Reasonable Accommodation):

· Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds;

· Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;

· Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;

· Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;

· Sufficient manual dexterity which permit the employee to perform routine office duties;

· Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
