JOB SUMMARY:

Provide technical support to all Empire departments and our clients, across all product lines. Research and solve technical problems for assigned product line. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, clients, and manufacturer personnel.

Maintain required client, product and issue reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Research, analyze, and track frequency and severity and assists in correcting product problems.
  • Maintain Empire Top 10 Problem List and prepare special reports.
  • Chair Problem Management activates as needed.
  • Create Empire troubleshooting aids for specific products or systems.
  • Inspect failed parts and prepare for return to factory.
  • Coordinate manufacturer engineer visits.
  • Council service personnel on interpretation of Caterpillar parts reusability guidelines.
  • Perform Caterpillar Failure Analysis and Oil Sample Results Analysis as needed.
  • Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage field follow machine inspections, reporting, and factory visits and arrange for concept machine tests.
  • Provide guidance and support for visiting vendor representatives.
  • Maintain Commercial Issue, Truck Tips and Technical Information Bulletins.
  • Acquire manufacturer blueprints as needed.
  • Communicate with manufacturer on technical matters.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
  • Work within and promotes corporate values.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have Failure Analysis I, II, III training.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills sufficient to professionally interact with internal and external clients, manufacture personnel, and co-workers.
  • Must have experience using Caterpillar technical service information.
  • Must have extensive technical knowledge about Caterpillar equipment and systems operation, troubleshooting and repair.
  • Must have strong verbal and written technical subject communication skills.
  • Must have organization skills sufficient to complete work assignments on schedule.
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Working knowledge of and/or a degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience with off-highway equipment, preferably Caterpillar.
  • Area of expertise in Heavy Equipment (ie, track type tractor, wheel loader or specialty area (hydraulics, power train, engines, etc).
  • Previous experience with Caterpillar parts and service computer systems.
  • Previous experience with Empire parts and service computer systems including, Microsoft Office, and Windows.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
