Internship Program Overview:



Our Interns & Co-ops are our entry-level talent pipeline for GF across the globe. Our goal is to provide students with a meaningful work experience that will equip them with the skills to embark on a career in the fast-paced and growing semiconductor industry after graduation. As an intern at GF, you'll experience one-on-one mentorship, work assignments that prioritize your growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives.



Summary of Role:



As an Industrial Engineer Intern/Co-op, you'll collaborate with other members of the Industrial Engineering department to establish the infrastructure for prescriptive analytics projects that leads to operation efficiency enhancement and factory cycle time improvements. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for this role. This position will be located in Malta, NY.



Essential Responsibilities include:



  • Provide and enhance tools to analyze the performance of the factory (such as OEE, throughput and cycle time)

  • Automate, simplify, decrease TAT and increase the accuracy of Industrial Engineering Capacity Processes

  • Value stream mapping and other lean techniques will be used to identify areas of improvement

  • Work directly with the existing skilled Industrial Engineering team and interact with many other departments

  • Learn about a leading-edge semiconductor wafer manufacturing facility and factory physics

  • Apply their Industrial Engineering and programming skills to real work manufacturing data systems




Other Responsibilities:



  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.




Required Qualifications:



  • Education - At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Industrial Engineer or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.

  • Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing

  • Basic proficiency and experience with MS Office Excel, including Pivot Tables, Macros, VBA and DB

  • Solid oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way

  • Self-motivated; able to take ownership of assignments, develop work plans and proactively seek feedback to ensure objectives are aligned and met

  • Team player; able to succeed in a dynamic, fast paced environment

  • Available for a 6-month assignment

  • Education - BS Student enrolled in an accredited program in Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related fields

  • Fluency in English Language - written & verbal




Preferred Qualifications:



  • Expert level knowledge and experience with software/programming languages (i.e. Macros, VBA, C, C++, Perl, Python, SQL, Java, R, etc.)

  • Discrete event modeling experience with Arena

  • Excellent academic standing

  • Strong written and oral communications skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Semiconductor Process Technology courses / experience

  • Capacity Planning courses / experience
