CWS is seeking a Systems Engineer to leverage engineering best practices within design, administration, installation and support for systems/server, software, and security. You will be responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of Virtual Desktop images (VDI) and end user devices by deploying updated images and troubleshooting issues for individual users. You will gather requirements and develop plans for deploying new applications to systems and create automated processes for deployment.
The contractor will support OFR's efforts to engineer, build, configure and maintain the OFR's Windows end user systems, including VDIs and laptops, following best practices to better ensure that OFR designs, deploys and sustains secure, high quality, highly available information technology solutions that align with operational objectives. The contractor will be involved in project work, and Tier 2 escalation support for our current staff.
Duties include but not limited to:
MS Office 365 administration - Intune/Autopilot experience preferred
Provide daily operational support for Microsoft Windows operating systems and applications.
VDI management, administration, and troubleshooting (Horizon/Citrix/HyperV)
Provide support to remote users.
Assist with VDI/Laptop maintenance and provisioning.
Monitor applications and Windows operating system performance and analyze and document problems.
Desktop/Laptop deployment, management, and troubleshooting
Providing end users support, monitoring, tests, and troubleshooting hardware and software issues. Recommending and scheduling necessary repairs.
Performing root cause analysis of issues and providing recommendations to improve efficiency and resolve problems.
SCCM administration, including patching, package prep and deployment and reporting.
Collaborate with system administrators, engineers, and the client to ensure proper integration of applications.
Systems administration of Windows systems using PowerShell, scripting, and automation
Documentation, development of system diagrams and SOPs
Conducting integration testing, transition and acceptance and training from the Engineering phase to the production phase.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member in a team environment.
Participating in the evaluation, selection, development, and integration of new end user devices (laptops) and applications.
You will be responsible for the maintenance of Virtual Desktop images (VDI) and end user devices by deploying updated images and troubleshooting issues for individual users.
You will gather requirements and develop plans for deploying new applications and create automated processes for deployment.
Involves an in-depth understanding of the overall infrastructure and ability to provide remote troubleshooting and resolution.
Installing, configuring and supporting Windows applications on Windows 10/11 desktop systems, both virtual (Horizon) and physical (laptops).
Diagnose system hardware, software, and operator problems.
Provide advanced troubleshooting on complicated IT issues.
Provide support for software applications.
Strategize and execute periodic patching activities including vulnerability remediation using SCCM.
Creating, testing, and coordinating the implementation of Group Policy objects and experience with AD monitoring tools
VDI image creation and deployment VM templates, VMware Horizon View
Administration of Active Directory (including group policies for security settings on Windows 10/11 OS)
Working closely with the infrastructure team and fellow engineers to shape and execute our infrastructure strategy.
Required Education & Experience
5 or more years of IT experience
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Excellent working knowledge of personal computer and peripherals
Experience in systems operations and maintenance.
Working knowledge of Windows 10/11
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Excellent client service, interpersonal and communication skills
Self-starter able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision.
Experienced in application deployment automation (app packaging) for Microsoft App-V, VMware
ThinApp, Citrix Streaming, or similar technologies
Experience with technical planning, engineering, deployment, and support of both, physical and virtual desktop (VDI) environments
Experience with Windows PowerShell scripting.
Hands on experience with server related technologies and techniques at the Tier-2 or 3 support
levels.
Must have experience in the following desktop technologies:
SCCM
MS Windows 10 or higher OS (preference for 11)
Dell Data Protection Encryption Enterprise Edition/WinMagic - a plus
Skilled in Windows 10/11 OS deployment, management, and configuration
Skilled in Windows 10 to Windows 11 upgrades and support
Skilled in using Active Directory Group Policies to manage and configure security settings on
Windows 10/11 OS as well as general Active Directory administration
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Certification Requirements
Preference given for Microsoft certification
Preference given for VMWare certification
Preference given for Citrix certification
Security Clearance
Able to obtain a Public Trust
Must be a U.S. citizen
Other (Travel, Work Environment, DoD 8570 Requirements, Administrative Notes, etc.)
