ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Provide administrative and clinical oversight needed to ensure optimal throughput and adherence to stress testing protocols.Greet patients, verify patient identity, escort them to the prep room, explain the test and insert IV. Obtain a focused clinical history from the patient and review medical records.Review medications, make sure patients have complied with prep instructions. Be able to recognize the need to make necessary adjustments in the stress testing protocol based on the patients clinical history, medical records, current medications or referring physician requests.Prepare patients for exercise and pharmacologic stress; prepare and administer intravenous infusions as needed.Properly store, prepare and administer non- radioactive pharmaceuticals to patients. Record identity and dosage of each pharmaceutical, route, site, time and identity of person administering the dose.Set up the stress testing equipment and focus on quality control matters related to that equipment.Develop expertise regarding the amount of exercise that a patient should undergo; end points of stress testing; recognize ECG changes before or during exercise such as LBBB that would require switching to a pharmacologic stress.Trained in resuscitative measures. Be able to recognize the need for prolonged monitoring and carry it out. See that the crash cart is fully stocked with appropriately dated medication and instruments.Communicate with family members and instruct patients about how to obtain follow up resultsEndure that the referring physician gets the report promptly.Assist schedulers and nuclear medicine technologists in optimizing camera use, in reviewing instructions with patients and in obtain patient records (chart prep).Performs other duties as assigned.
