POSITION: PAYROLL MANAGER



ACCOUNTABLE TO: CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT

POSITION SUMMARY



The Regional Payroll Manager is responsible for managing the day to day functions of Payroll for the Southwest Region of Marsh McLennan Agency. The Payroll Manager has ultimate responsibility for ensuring that payroll processes run efficiently and smoothly for all spoke offices in the region. Builds strong relationships with corporate payroll, local HR and Finance teams in the region. A key component of this role is to understand and document the Workday payroll system module flow and work through processes, policies and procedures. This position is a vital contributor to the region-wide HR team. This position reports to the CHRO. This position is located in our Dallas, TX office at 8144 Walnut Hill Lane. This is an Exempt position. The position offers various flexible work options, including work from home, after initial new hire onboarding.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



Leads weekly, bi-weekly and monthly payroll processes for all spoke offices in the SW region. In collaboration with the Accounting & Payroll Specialist, reviews payroll documentation for accuracy through audit reports, makes adjustments as needed and obtains necessary approvals. Partners with HR to process employee time & attendance data from Replicon to payroll and to reconcile variances. Works closely with HR, Finance, & Accounting on all payroll related issues. Works closely with HR and the Regional benefit administration system to ensure accurate benefit deductions and recordkeeping for payroll deduction purposes. Reviews and audits master file and pay data entries, YTD totals, and files amendments when necessary. Ensures compliance and regulation with company policies. Ensures current payroll practices are in compliance with company policy and governance requirements and aligned with legislative requirements. Executes best practice solutions to business partners across the organization; communicates with various departments to review cross-departmental impacts and reconciles data interdependencies. Provides coaching and feedback to individuals as well as teams to develop and enhance individual and team performance. Handles real-time decision making, project planning and providing direction. Creates and automates all necessary payroll and management reports. May also assume HR Generalist and HR Business Partner responsibilities, including Employee Engagement, Employee Relations, and Talent Management.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES





  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with Workday for HRIS and payroll a plus.

  • Human Resources Generalist experience not required, but a plus.

  • Experience in administering compensation and bonus plans is also desired.





  • Strong sense of urgency and commitment to meeting deadlines and able to ensure critical tasks are completed on time.

  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills and high level attention to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Works well on a team.

  • Demonstrated customer service experience handling escalated issues to successful resolution.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet demanding deadlines.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Proficient in Word and PowerPoint. Strong Excel skills is a must, with the ability to run reports and advanced functions such as pivot tables, VLookUp, etc.

  • Versatile and flexible, with the ability to work within changing priorities.




Work Environment & Physical Demands



  • Ability to use computer keyboard and sit in a stationary position for extended periods.

  • Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
