Lynker is seeking a talented Software Developer and GIS Analyst to support an upcoming contract with NOAA. The Software Developer and GIS Analyst selected will work within a team to develop and apply new technology and methods to increase the capabilities, efficiencies, and accuracy of the current data model and workflow for an ongoing NOAA project. The Software Developer and GIS Analyst will be involved with all phases of automated workflow development, including design, algorithm and software development, testing and documentation. Some work will be performed in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The Software Developer and GIS Analyst will be working with different data formats, databases, and workflows that require significant software development.

The Ideal Software Developer and GIS Analyst will have the Following:

• BS in hydrography, ocean mapping, physical science, marine science, oceanography, computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, related discipline, or equivalent.
• Experience with data analysis and an understanding of GIS and data management techniques.
• Demonstrated drive to solve problems and think creatively and critically.
• Knowledge and experience with software development, including Python, Integrated Development Environments, debugging principles, continuous integration testing, and automated documentation.
• Knowledge and experience with databases and queries in PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge and experience with geospatial applications, such as QGIS, libraries, such as GDAL, and OGC web services.
• Knowledge and experience with horizontal and vertical datums as well as transformations in the context of point and raster data.
• Knowledge and experience with version control best practices and experience with version control software such as Git.
• Experience developing mapping standards and techniques, and improving data management and access.
• Knowledge and experience with container-based software development and deployment platforms.
