Summary of Functions

Directs and coordinates activities of Heavy Civil Construction projects and programs; maintains and enhances Forgen business relationships. This position includes business development, project management, execution responsibilities, and internally facing program development activities. This role provides the opportunity for leveraging leadership experience, subject matter expertise, and program development skills to expand relationships with new and existing clients. This role manages each project assigned according to Forgens corporate philosophy of safe, quality production while securing the most favorable economic outcome for Forgen. Position may require frequent travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform the roles and responsibilities for Project Executive of Heavy Civil Construction as listed on the Accountability Chart.
  • Responsible for driving a safety culture which promotes Incident and Injury Free Performance.
  • The incumbent will have direct responsibility for the success of a portfolio of Heavy Civil projects and the performance of Heavy Civil project managers under their direction.
  • Leadership of daily operations and revenue generation for the line of business, ensuring its continual profitable growth.
  • Assist in maximizing the companys overall operating performance and achievement of financial goals, including P&L, business plan development, forecasting, financial performance, and project performance resolution.
  • Drive business development and project execution through collaborative engagement across all Forgens regions and lines of business.
  • Provide technical expertise, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc. as required, including advisement on potential key investment or capital expenditures, new technologies or industry practices.
  • Direct the development of proposals and the execution of projects, which may specifically include large Federal clients (e.g. USACE, BOR, EPA, etc.), State agencies (e.g. Water Management Districts, Flood Control Agencies, etc.), utilities or other private clients, while growing a sustainable and profitable regional business.

Experience/Education

  • BS, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent preferred but not mandatory.
  • Past experience in a construction environment which demands outstanding safety performance.
  • Experience in the heavy civil construction sector, plus experience in a leadership role with P&L accountability ($50mil + annual revenue).
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence outcomes and deliver results; strong communicator/collaborator across all levels.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project and program management, as well as operations management.
  • Experience delivering projects under joint venture contracting structures.
  • Experience delivering projects for federal and/or state public sector clients (e.g. US Army Corps of Engineers, South Florida Water Management District, other federal and state agencies).
  • Experience leading pursuit teams for the capture of large, alternative delivery, best value contracts.
  • Experience leading and developing a high-performing team of construction professionals.
  • Ability to leverage data and analytics to develop solutions to complex problems.
  • Program vision oriented resulting in sustainable value and performance.
  • Strategic Partnering/Interpersonal Savvy and Integrity.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong credible relationships with leaders and leverage these relationships to lead change and influence culture.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, management, and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group is important.
  • Regular use of the telephone and email for communication is also essential.
  • Sitting for extended period is common.
  • No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 25 pounds of force occasionally may be required.
  • Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computers, calculator, copiers, and fax machines.
  • Good reasoning ability and decision-making is important.
  • Able to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business.

Primarily an office position. Occasional site visits and field project visits may be required. Travel to offices and projects in various locations around the country as needed. The following physical activities or abilities are commonly, but not always, associated with site visits.

  • Be able to stand or walk on a project site for extended durations.
  • When on project sites or if performing some types of work activity wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, earplugs, protective eyewear, gloves, hard hat, steel toed work boots, and high visibility safety apparel.

Work Environment

The job is primarily performed indoors in a traditional office setting and occasionally outdoors at construction sites.

  • Job Site environment, including, but not limited to, machines, tools, heavy equipment, chemicals, solvents, dust and fumes.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  • Uneven ground.
