The Die Room and Set-up Manger is responsible for overseeing the blending operation, maintaining the die tool room, and machine set-up for extrusion lines, working with the process engineers and team leads to resolve production and quality issues. This position monitors the quality of parts being returned from extrusion and ensures proper inspection and tooling maintenance of all production dies. Secondary responsibility would be extruder set-up of “next up machine” to improve overall extruder down time and increase overall output.
Essential Functions
Lead positive safety culture; ensure safety rules/ practices are understood and followed
Inspection and cleaning of Extrusion dies and all die sub assembly parts.
Order replacement tooling for dies to ensure spare dies are always on hand.
Time and Attendance reconciliation and tracking for blending operator.
(Back up) Inputting production data from production reports
Essential audits on procedures for die room, blending, and machine set up
Set up “next up” machine in production schedule.
Trouble shoot mechanical and process issues.
Facilitates training and document retention for training and safety
Compile KPI data and analysis for reporting of die specs.
Monitor order and restock department expendable supplies
Liaison between quality and department for process concerns
Place Hippo work orders as needed
Regular and reliable attendance
Secondary Functions
Develop and implement production policies and procedures for tooling and machine set up
Assist with root cause analysis for issues, and support the corrective actions with a cross functional team
Assist with customer complaints for root cause to mitigate future events.
Position Specifications
Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Required Skills & Experience:
Leadership acumen with proven experience
Strong collaboration skills within department and with other internal customers
Manufacturing environment: not uniformly heated / cooled, exposure to dust/ fumes
PPE: steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, safety glasses, others as required by task
Schedule: Monday-Friday day shift, occasional overtime
