Community Health Worker, MOMS Part TimeEpidemiology

Location: New Orleans, LA

Summary

The Community Health Worker recruits participants and leads groups for the M-O-M-S Intervention trial (Mentors Offering Maternal Support), funded by the National Academy of Science to address strategies to improve mental health in regions affected by disaster. This position requires regular work in the Houma region.

Responsibilities include recruiting participants at prenatal clinics, community events, and other locations; leading 6-week sessions of groups of 10-12 women; and assisting with data collection when necessary.

This role is an entry-level position. Training will be provided to develop the necessary skills required of a Community Health Worker.

Required Qualifications

* High School Diploma or Equivalent * 1 year of related experience working with community-based programs or in a relevant clinical or social service setting

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a related field* Research and/or data collection experience* Counseling or clinical experience, especially with pregnant women or new mothers* Fluency in Spanish
