UT’S Division of Student Success welcomes applications for


First-Year Experience Coordinator


The New Vol Experience (NVE) supports students on-boarding and transition to the institution utilizing a multi- phased approach. This coordinator position, supervised by one of FYE’s Assistant Directors plays a critical role coordinating, developing, implementing, and assessing various in-person programming for Vol 103 (On-Campus Experience), Vol 104 (Big Orange Welcome), and Vol 106 (Vols Start Back). Each serving as key components


of the NVE and dedicated to supporting the mission and strategic plan of First-Year Experience, the Division of Student Success, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.





Qualifications


Position Requirements:


•         Bachelor’s degree required


•         1-year professional experience working in student affairs or a related department within higher education. *Two years of graduate work will count as one year of professional experience.



 




Preferences:


•         Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field.


•         Professional experience working directly in a first-year experience or new student transition-oriented environment (first-year programs, new student orientation, admissions, etc.).


•         Professional experience developing and coordinating events on a college campus.



Position Responsibilities:



Program Planning & Implementation


•   Manage and assist in all aspects of event programming for both small and large-scale events to support Vol 104: Big Orange Welcome, UT’s extended six-week orientation program which occurs during both Fall and Spring semesters and Vol 106: Vols Start Back, which takes place during the start of the spring.


•   Support the logistics for Vol 103: On-Campus Experience; including but not limited to major campus partner resource fair, check-in, and technology needs for various interest sessions.


•   Collaborate with a multitude of campus partners to successfully create and manage the entire Big Orange Welcome schedule within Blackthorn (Salesforce). This includes hundreds of events submitted and allows first-year students to easily find and register for campus events during the first six-weeks of each semester.


•   Serve as one of the on-site supervisors for FYE major events throughout the year and provide consistent and positive leadership to ensure the success and safety of participating students.



Management


•   In collaboration with the Assistant Directors, manage and provide support for FYE’s student leaders (Team Leaders and New Vol Ambassadors) when applicable during various events (Vol 103, Vol 104, and Vol 106).
