The Assistant Director is tasked with supporting non-traditional student populations such as transfers, commuters, and families. This position is a Grade: 8-40 with an approximate salary range of $46,180-$55,420 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications

1. Work with Assistant Dean/Director and Associate Director to coordinate, conduct and establish short and long term planning activities
*Assist with the development of action steps to accomplish the office's annual goals & outcomes
*Assist with the communication and implementation of the office's annual goals to both University and community partners
*Align goals and objectives with bLUeprint curriculum and continually assess and measure the impact of implementation
*Conduct research on "promising practices" resources regarding relevant theories, models, programmatic materials, and new initiatives or trends related to the field orientation, transition, retention and student development
*Serve as an integral member of the office by attending regular staff meetings and staff retreats, assisting with other office initiatives, and coordinating special projects when needed.2. Coordinates and facilitates transitional programming for first-year students
*Develops and facilitates annual Camp Hawk program in both the fall and spring semesters
*Coordinates the annual 5x10 program in collaboration with the Associate Director - soliciting for program proposals, reviewing, marketing and assessing these programs in alignment with bLUeprint
*Develops and facilitates first-year preLUsion program, Discover Lehigh
*Assists in the overall support of PreLUsion programs including the recruitment of programs, coordinating with preLUsion coordinators, marketing and registration, social programming and assessments
*Collaborates with university offices, academic departments, student clubs and organizations, and other offices and/or groups on special events3. Develop data-driven programs and resources to support non-traditional populations at Lehigh
*Assists in the planning and implementation of Transfer Student Orientation and Family Orientation
*Provides resources to and facilitates meetings for the commuter student population
*Facilitates one on one meetings through the NavigateLU program for transfer students in the fall and spring
*Collect, review, and analyze student and family data to determine strategies and support initiatives4. Supervises OFYE Student Staff including Camp Hawk Counselors and preLUsion Leaders
*Selects, trains and supervises the Camp Hawk Counselors for the fall and spring programs
*Selects, trains and supervises the preLUsion leaders for Discover Lehigh
*Assesses training and continually adjust recruitment and hiring procedures to ensure a successful staff.5. Assists in the marketing and communications of office programs and services
*Edits annual documents for initiatives relevant to this position
*Reviews and edits website to ensure accuracy and clear communication to prospective, new, and current students and families, campus partners, and outside constituents.
*Collaborates with staff on social media content and online video content.
*Creates monthly newsletters for transfer students and sophomore students with information helpful for their first year at Lehigh.6. Coordinate and implement programs and resources to aid in sophomore student success and retention
*Coordinate with the Director on communication from first-year to second-year to promote awareness of transition and change
*Develop programs to support second year students dive deeper into bLUeprint learning
*Assess sophomore students needs and benchmark other institutions and best practices to adapt programming and services
*Develop newsletter content specific for second-year students and issues specific to their experiences
*Manage the Year2@LU Social Media accounts7. Work closely with the Student Affairs offices and University committees to best support first-year and second-year students in their transition to Lehigh
*Represents the Dean of Students Office and the Office of First-Year Experience, both internally and externally, on issues related to student transition
*Coordinates with numerous offices across campus to ensure a successful move-in day and ensure a campus-wide seamless effort in transitioning students, including but not limited to Housing Services, International Affairs, Athletics, LUPD, the academic colleges and advising teams to ensure a campus-wide seamless effort in transitioning students
*Serves as a part of the larger Dean of Students team, including opportunities to participate in various Dean of Students and/or Student Affairs working groups and committees, as appropriate
*Support Dean of Students, Division of Student Affairs and University efforts to ensure adherence to the Principles of our Equitable Community and support larger diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives

QualificationsMaster's Degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs or the equivalent combination of education and experienceOne to three years of related work experienceStrong organizational, communication and research skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment to achieve the office's goals and objectivesProficient analytical skills, experience in program development and implementation and the ability to provide tailored support to diverse student populations within a higher education settingSuccessful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
