What You'll Do:

Other duties may be assigned.

· Support the Engineering department goals to achieve continuous improvement projects that meet EBITDA, PMP Targets, annual plan and key long term growth objectives.

· In accordance with Aludyne Leadership Standards, develop, measure, improve and achieve key measurable performance objectives including, but not limited to, the following:

o Cost of Quality

o Cost per Good Shot

o Die Cast Uptime

o Machining Uptime

o On-Time Delivery

o RRPPM

o Value Per Labor Hour

· Support the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment.

· Drive Continuous Improvement through lean thinking and problem solving.

· Review production data on a regular basis to identify improvement opportunities in scrap rate, cycle time, uptime, or other plant metrics in the areas of Die Cast, Machining and Assembly.

· Monitor both internal and external product quality, as well as current production performance, and implement corrective or improvement actions to meet or exceed plant and customer goals and objectives.

· Provide technical assistance and product expertise to reduce costs of existing products with focus on redirecting costs of non-quality (scrap, rework, customer returns, and downtime) along with eliminating non value added operations.

· Participates in developing/reviewing PFMEA and Control Plans for compliance and accuracy.

· Support prototype, production, and service quoting activities

· Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.

· Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

· Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

· Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.

· Execute all scheduled layered process audits to provide accountability and promote a culture of operational discipline.

· Actively participate in the facility Safety Team and complete all STOP audits on-time as scheduled

Requirements:

What We Need from You:

Supervisory Responsibilities

None

Education and/or Experience

Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering or related technical field; or equivalent combination three to five years of related experience and education and/or training.

Prefer Lean Manufacturing Certification or training, experience with implementation of Lean Philosophies and Methods, Six Sigma, Problem Solving Training or related experience.

Skills and Abilities

· Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

· Math Skills - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Advanced mathematical skills such as working with exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations, frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis is also preferred.

· Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

· Computer Skills: Computer literate to write, read, and reply to e-mail. Excel and MS Project experience

· Read and interpret Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

None required. Prefer Six Sigma Greenbelt/Blackbelt certification and/or certificate in Lean Manufacturing.

Work Environment

This position is in production and in an office environment. This position required proper training in personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and protective gear.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
