Overview

Are you passionate about technology and looking to take the next step in your career? If so, we want you! Come join VectorUSAs growing technical team as a Systems Administrator (Systems Administrator I). You will be provided the opportunity to expand your knowledge outside of our current area of expertise, to provide support for the entire data center; cloud based and physical. You will be responsible for helping VectorUSA and our customers design, build, and maintain systems that support their business operations. You will gain experience and proficiency in managing data center environments to ensure the stability of diverse client infrastructure. A successful candidate will be self-disciplined, highly motivated to learn new technologies, work well on individual tasks in a team environment, and be able to work well and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical personnel in high-stress situations.

Workdays: Monday - Friday, Hours: Varies depending on the need (Days/Nights)

On-Site Location: Torrance, CA, with occasional travel to our client site in Long Beach, CA.

What Your Typical Day Will Be:

  • Perform basic systems testing and operational tasks for a wide variety of systems
  • Ability to document all work actions as required by VectorUSA and clients in accordance with standard policies and procedures
  • Work with VectorUSA, client and third-party technical and service teams to maintain, troubleshoot and remediate technical issues
  • Support multiple technical systems in 24 x 7 environment operational environments with high uptime requirements. Varied shift schedules may include day, night and weekend hours
  • Perform basic systems security administration functions, including creating customer profiles and accounts
  • Monitor and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency
  • Maintain system documentation and logs
  • Perform or assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing production problems; corrects identified problems
  • Maintain application security, event investigations and compliance enforcement.
  • Provide monitoring and primary response and intervention for information technology related security incidents and violations
  • Conduct ongoing security risk assessments including the monitoring, investigation and reporting of security and access violations
  • Install and maintain network servers, operating systems, and other network equipment
  • Review system performance statistics; perform system modifications and fixes
  • Research, test and evaluate vendor hardware and software products
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Bring to The Table:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of three years of experience supporting and monitoring network systems
  • A minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and error correction on a variety of server/storage technologies
  • Working knowledge of general client and server operating systems and back-office applications, including but not limited to the Microsoft Windows Operating System (multiple versions), Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, etc.
  • Strong communication skills in the English language, with the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical personnel in high-stress situations
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner on multiple tasks or projects, with excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • High level of professionalism, particularly working with and assisting clients with technical questions and issues
  • Ability to produce and maintain documentation of information security systems using a variety of tools (i.e. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SharePoint, etc.)
  • Must meet all requirements to obtain a Federal Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, information systems or a related field, or equivalent corporate or military training
  • Microsoft/Cisco certifications (MCSA,CCNA, MCITP, etc.)
  • A+/Net+ Certification
  • Linux/Mac experience a plus
  • Network experience a plus
  • VMware experience a plus
  • SolarWinds experience a plus
  • Dell OpenManage experience a plus
  • Demonstrated skill in working effectively with people of all technical levels including conflict resolution, collaborative problem solving, and responsive customer service is required
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Network Monitoring and Trouble Management tools (Nagios & SolarWinds)
  • Certification and/or experience working in an ITIL or IT Service Management environment preferred
  • Experience with patch management systems (WSUS, SCOM, Satellite/Spacewalk)

Compensation Range: $23.00/hr.- $25.00/hr. (Full-time)
